for all of you that have that mentality think of this:

Hell mine has two QR buckles ant three adjustable straps.

    DIR is really just DIS!

    BTW:
I have a Nomad, the old transpac 2 rig and a home made rig
I have also had an armadillo
That's great. However, I am not a fan of QR either. I have had one break on me. Not diving or climbing, but on my military gear. A leg pouch that was QR on to my belt broke dumping a 200 round can of linked M249 ammo on to the ground while I was running. So they just are not my thing. Some of us don't like them, just like some of you do. What's the big deal?

it sounds like you've really just decided on the utd system, so why not just buy it? no advantage to using the nomad wing with that system, only a LOT of disadvantages using that wing with that harness system. The utd wing was designed to be used with their harness and it works well. the nomad was designed to be put under a transpac, and it works well with that. Mixing and matching doesn't work well. The OMS wing was first used with the UTD/razor harness because they didn't have big wings at the time, but if you like that design, just get the UTD system and not have to worry

I have a Razor style harness with a Dive Rite Rec wing, which is what the Nomad is based on. It was a fairly easy adaptation, but is not perfect. Both my plates are on the outside of the wing, the shoulder straps run over the top of the wing. The shoulder-waist straps go through the lower cam band slot. You could easily run this in the open section at the bottom of the wing. The waist straps run through the keepers at the edges of the wing, and there is no taco. There is nothing to keep the top of the wing from slipping down, but is not a problem once it is in place. I simply don my rig, then pull the shoulder straps up high enough to reach the top of the wing and get it stretched out and in to place, then let the shoulder straps back down. If you mount the wing as low as you can on the harness, and keep the top 1/2 bungeed pretty tight, you should trim out pretty well right off (assuming steel tanks).

That all being said, I just did the same conversion on an SMS-100 for Giselle and it went together 10x easier than the Rec wing.

is this the point of the night where we should tell the OP to be greatful he's getting into SM now as opposed to 15 years ago when there weren't razor harnesses and all this, but you had to use stab jackets for sidemount?

Paolo, unless you are using really heavy steel tanks, the Z-Plus works perfect for me. I hate the UTD overall concept of "Z-diving", but this wing is made to adapt easily to many harnesses, has lots of lift and is well thought out and well constructed.

    Hi Skorpiov
Yes, for my deep dives I use heavy steel tanks , they weight 42 lbs . The lift of the z-plus isn't a problem but I think its overpriced ( it's only a wing).
    Thanks for your feedback,
    Ciao Paolo
