Thread: Line to P2

    Default Line to P2

I tried to dive to P2 today but thumbed before getting there due to line condition. There is a right hand turn in the line and then an ascent begins. At that point the line was slack and on the floor. I tightened it and laid a rock on it but shortly after that the line was just swirling everywhere so I called it a day. There was an old arrow labelled BoB at that point which I left in place. The depth was 74 ft and it took us abou 20 minutes to get there swimming slowly.

I never knew there was a line to P2. I know the well ends at P2 kind of. Some say you can see light but I never have. I have floated over to P2 when the water was higher and before the beavers made it difficult. Will have to investigate.

It was my first time diving the well. I don't know where the line ends but I do know that it goes bad before you get there

We were last there (the well) in June and the line was fine at that point.

I am confused by the description though. The line ends at the bottom of the well. If you go right, it will meander through some very nice initially low, but silty if you are not careful passage in the direction of P2, then go under a duck under into a final dome shaped room. (You can also go over the rock that creates the duck under, and while it is slightly easier, it puts you off the line.)

If you go left at the well, it's a short smallish and winding passage to a chimney, that line ends at the top of the chimney within sight of the line to the well and is in fact the marked jump on that line. I suspect that might be the line referenced in the above post where an "ascent" is referenced.

My favorite way to dive the well is to leave the P1 cavern via the hole on the right hand side of the cavern. You'll see a big rock on your left and you can run the line over it or around it and down to the opening into the passage leading from Olsen to the well. If you follow the wall on your right you'll come to a tunnel to the right and the line to the well is low on the corner.

More or less across from that line on the opposite side of the tunnel is another line that leads to Olsen but it gets small and silty and is currently blocked by a sand slide so it would need some digging and/or would need to be no mounted.

However there is an actual line to P2 and it's actually in P3. If you ascend to the balcony in the P3 cavern (17-20' of depth) and follow the opening back you'll come to a line on the left hand side. That line leads through a backmountable / easy in sidemount restriction to the P2 cavern. The line ends in the middle of the cavern but you can run a jump or gap reel and exit to the surface through another easily backmountable restriction. The passage and cavern are fairly sandy and there is noticeable flow, especially in the restriction, so if you do silt the passage it will clear fairly quickly.

you might have been almost to the end. there is a right turn then the line goes up a little and you are at the EOL. in a room.

Thanks DA Aquamaster for the description of the cave in that area. It's very helpful. Based on your description we were swimming the well line. Based on swim time and what things look like on the map we must have been somewhere near the end of the line. One of the divers who seemed very experienced (to this novice) told us how to get onto the line and said that it ended at P2 but that no exit was possible due to a collapse. I found that area to be very nice and just the right amount of challenge at the team's skill level. We had to go slow but we weren't kicking things up or hitting the cave with our fins.
