Default The stars seemed to align today

Recently I have gotten some interesting ideas off of the forum to try out with my SM diving. I've been working on my rig trying to get it more dialed in. Today a number of things came together.

First, I am presently diving a Nomad that had the old style bungees, until today. I took some webbing, a few grommets, and a bit of bungee and made some loops very similar to the pics posted by Diverlee (thanks for posting). Upon trying this setup in the pool, I found using the webbing and loops shifted the tanks just a bit closer to my feet. Worked on the trim a bit, and I am really happy with the result.

Then, I thought of "Chicken Wings". Not just because it was close to lunch, but Shirley and DA Aquamaster indicated they were told this is a good maneuver for attaching floaty 80's beneath primary SM tanks to keep them off the ceiling. Just happened to have a couple of light 80's so I brought them to the pool as well and worked on chicken wings for a while.

With my tanks a little further back and the concept of chicken wings in my brain, it was easier than I thought it would be. Probably spent 30 minutes moving tanks from the top to the bottom on left and right sides. Just like a kid with a new toy. I have found the "one smooth move" that DA Aquamaster referred to.

There sure are at least some folks on here that know what they are talking about. Thanks again.

Heading up to Ft. White next weekend and I can hardly wait!

    Default Pics as requested

Here are some pics. Please note , I have not yet completed the final trimming of the bungee knots since making my last adjustments to them.

I used two pieces of the stiff webbing with one threaded into the back of the Nomad and the other runs over the back on the outside and they are held in place with the two sliders.

You can see the D rings the standard Nomad bungees would clip two and see how mine drop the attachment points a little further down. Works really well for me.

    Of course, as always, YMMV

Any comments (constructive or otherwise) are always welcome....

Thanks man, does the wide webbing affect the way the wing inflates ?

So far, all I have to go on is the pool session using Worthy 108's and a pair of AL 80 stages, and I am really happy with it.

I have tried a couple other configurations both shorter webbing and no webbing, just bungee. I am pretty pleased with this and really looking fwd to trying it on Friday.

I look at it this way, if inflating a wing can produce enough force to bend a steel backplate as was documented on this forum, it ought to be able to lift a little webbing. I also am guessing that distributing the resistance to inflation on a wider surface of the wing might work in my favor as well. I know I am not needing Max inflation, but we'll see how it goes.

Interesting to note, I believe it was Diverlee that posted pics of a similar setup that gave me the idea. My webbing is noticeably longer than those, but then I am a "bit broader" as well.
