Just curious as to what kind of lighting anyone uses for a Gopro in the cave environment. Any tips/ ideas? I'll be getting mine soon with a flat lens and wanna take it under, but would like to not just see inky blackness with random light spots...

A GoPro is like any other U/W camera. The easiest lighting is a flood light in the hand of the camera person (not too close to the camera, to prevent back scatter), and one or more buddies with bright lights. You will still get the "inky blackness with random light". The only way to get a "Wes Skiles" type video, is with several people holding video lights, out of view of the camera.
I used a GoPro in Peacock for most of last week. For lighting I used a Sola 1200 on an 8 inch ultralight arm with floats. The rig worked well and I was happy with the results. I did have to run the Sola at its brightest setting and wouldn't have minded having a second video light.
I also carry a 21w HID but found that at least with the standard reflector it spotlights too much. I am curious about trying a proper video reflector on the HID.
Will do. Shoot me an email;

I took a gopro hero2 on an ocean dive yesterday. I found it very limited in dynamic range, but in a cave with artificial light it should behave much better.
On said dive I did use a pair of video lights in full daylit (15m), and when used and the light hit the subject the results were pretty good.

I use a 21 watt HID with a video reflector on the rare times I take it in a cave. I use it to video students during their training. Its not great but a video of doing a jump is worth a thousand words, at least....
Ok thanks for all the tips! Does anyone use head mounted lights? I have an 18w and was gonna head mount 2 5w's. Should that give a good picture?
