2011/2012 New Year's Social

So the end of the year is approaching and we haven't had a social since last December 31. We have had problems getting and retaining a Social Director, and all of the moderators are too sorry, I mean too busy, to do it themselves.

New Year's Eve is a Saturday, so we could do a daytime social at Little Devil (like we always seem to do) and then move down to Ginnie Spring for the midnight Galaxy Dive.

Would anybody like to be Social Director?

Would anybody like to offer an alternate plan?

Would anybody like to comment at all?

Herbie was social director at last year's summer social.

After that last social, he had to go into the witness protection program. I regret I never had the pleasure of meeting Sid, and I miss Dr. D! I think the only solution to fill such a huge hole in our event is to have OFG-1 do that thong dance again. Dust off the merkin and let's get this party started!

How many other places could we hold this? For me the Galaxy dive is part of the point. So we need a large'ish cavern area, with a high-flow bottle neck. Camping onsite seems to be a requirement as well. I am under the impression JB is out (lack of flow right now), as are all state parks (no night diving).

A galaxy dive at the lips would be cool (release the goo a bit further in, watch from the gallery), but that would prohibit all OW and Cavern Divers from participating.

Does anything other than Ginnie fit the bill? (not rhetorical)

I've emailed or talked to all 3 in the past 12 months... SID the longest ago, but they are all still around... Herbie is just working a lot out of the country. He will be back.
