Wink What are some unusual things that you've seen in caves?

"What are some unusual things that you've seen in caves?"

I get asked this all the time... My reply yesterday was:
    A giant eel at Madison
A huge turtle shell in Little River
    Lots of bones and fossils
Nude girls bathing with soap in Cow one evening
Some Indian and Spanish pottery pieces
    Sorry, no gold...

I have forgotten many more... but that's some of my highlights...

Ummm, well the clay banks at Cow, a sharks tooth in the Grand Ball room, a couple making out in the air dome in Okinawa at Mada Point, and Murphy during my class.

A large 6" crayfish peeling the flesh off a dead fish with one claw and fending off smaller crayfish trying to dash in and make off with a chunk. He sat on top of it waving one claw this way then that and the little guys would come in and snatch a bite. Finally he dragged off a good size piece of it and left the rest. The little guys all rushed in and made short work of the carcass. On the return there was nothing there at all. no bones, no bits of skin, nothing but the footprints of crayfish and a few drag marks.

Most unusual, most interesting, and most entertaining could all be different things... I like it when I find turtles, fossils, eels but they're actually pretty common, atleast around here.

I used to think skinny dippers were unusual, but everyone has a naked story or 6

Huge flathead catfish(3-6' long on different occasions) in two particular caves, which aren't particularly close to each other(infact in different states). I find them unusual, because they aren't supposed to be there from what I've read, and its usually a suprise when I see them. I mean comon, a catfish the size of me is a bit of a rarity, especially in a cave you're trying to dive through cleanly.

Rebreather divers floating upside down in a silt cloud, divers kneeling on the bottom to tie in a reel, lines cutting through the middle of a passage, deco bottles left on my line instead of the gold line or their line, people tying jump spools into my jump line instead of the tunnel's line.... Oh wait, unusual stuff?

I've found enough quarters to buy a soda all out of reach of intro divers who follow rules... And a dump valve... A dead guys mask several years after the fatality... It's a fun sport.
