I agree about splitting up the training. I would recommend hitting the high flow caves of FL first is you can.
If you do some of your training in FL, you can’t go wrong with Johnny Richards.

My buddy and I could not have been happier with the level of training and customer service provided.
He is very easy to work with. Yet he always holds you to very high standards as far as your performance and protecting the caves.
I am an OW instructor as well and I have taken a lot of his diving and teaching principles and included them in my classes.

I would also recommend Johnny. Very good instructor amount lots of other good instructors around here. Most everyone I have met or seen instructing in the area do a good job and want to keep you safe and at the same time protect the caves. If you find an instructor who also dives the caves for fun when not instructing you have a good one. Another good judge is if they fail a good percentage of student they are probably a good instructor as not everyone should be passing the courses. Unfortunately there are some that rarely fail students and that is not good as some people are just not prepared enough or have the wrong attitude to be safe and conservative to be a cave diver. Just my two cents worth and YMMV

Dan Patterson in Florida is an outstanding instructor http://www.danpattersondiving.com/Da...g/Welcome.html

I'd personally rather train in Florida and then go to Mexico for guided cave candy as a graduation present! However we trained with German Yanez http://www.germanyanez.com/, who is fantastic if you end up in Cozumel.

Yep, Forrest is correct. It's still good to have the information here though. Prior to asking, I did a search of the archives and didn't turn up the data I was looking for.

Here's a link to my Chateau H2O recommendation page.

These are local Florida instructors who I have taken class with or have seen in action.
