Default Peacock Springs Interpretive Trail Needs YOUR BACK (and hands and knees and feet!)

The signs are done and the trail is nearing completion! This Friday and Saturday (October 15 and 16), we are going to try to make this happen!

Last Saturday, Kelly got 2/5s of the trail recleared, and that was with two people. If we can get a small team of people, we can take a big swing at this.

This coming Friday, the North Florida Springs Alliance is going to rent a gas post hole digger, and drill the holes for the signs. If time allows, we will work on the trail some more, but the post hole digger has to be back before they close to save another rental fee.

On Saturday we will have an ATV to get the signs on site, but there are some places an ATV won't fit, so we may have to carry them out there by hand. They weigh over 200 lbs each, so we need some able bodies.

Everyone can help! Even if you can only do an hour or so, it would be great!

Not all of the work needed is "back intensive." The trail has grown up a bit, so folks are needed to just whack it clear, move small branches out of the path, etc. Of course, the more hands we have on the signs, the less weight for everyone to carry.

Post here, shoot Kelly or me a message, or give us a shout, to let us know you're coming and if you have any questions.

And in case you've forgotten, here's the trail map (click to see it bigger). Ain't she a beauty?

This trail will add value to PSSP,because there will be an educational resource there, not just recreational. It is known all the way to Tallahassee that cave divers have built this, and this really helps in landowners relations. If you really want to give something back to cave diving with a lasting legacy, this is it. We won't hold your prisoner, promise,we are just asking for a little help. Thanks

**If I can wrap my project up at work tomorrow**, I was planning to head up for some diving Thursday and Friday. I would be happy pitch in on Friday and meet some new folks. No shackles please my wife will see the marks. (unless they have fur, then I'll just suffer her wrath).

Just wondering if a two wheel hand truck with pneumatic tires would be of any use....

What time you getting started, any idea?

About 9am both days would be great!

The hand truck can't hurt. It could come in handy in areas where the trail is really narrow.

    See ya there!

Left the house way early to do a drop off at MCO. No hand truck. I am in for Friday only though
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
