Anyone find a Co building Li-ion packs that will fit the DR slimline canister?
I'm thinking 11.1 volts 7800mah, 9 pieces of 18650, 2600 mah each. 5 cells on the bottom, 4 on the top etc.
Might just have to DIY it. Has anyone made this Li-ion pack for a slimline? confirm that it fits okay.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Ya, Batteryspace.com has the 14.8v 4.8ah li-ion that will fit and that is it from what I can tell.
Basically the same as the Nimh pack (4.5ah) that cost $24 to $80 cheaper depending on what brand of Nimh batteries you get.

All-battery.com basically said for me to make it myself because of the cost of a single pack.

If I go with Li-ion I want 7800mah or better to make it worth while.

    I've been building 3s3p

buy 9 - 18650's with tabs and you wont need to weld
    and 1 - PCB-S3A10-GS

make 3 sets of three cells in parallel (+ to + to + and - to - to -)
then connect those three sets to the PCB as though they were 3 cells.

you will have a 7.8Ah pack for $71

you can also get the shrink wrap to make it look nice
    http://www.batteryspace.com/diypvcshrinksglue.aspx

just follow the instructions on how to choose the correct shrink wrap

Be careful with batteries and battery specs. Many of the LiIons out there are CRAP. You really get what you pay for. I have used batteries from $2 each to $6 each and the $6 are definitely better. The $2 were definitely CRAP!!! Most are over rated by at least 3000 mah. 7800 puts you with a 2600 mah cell... Those are typically over rated and you are better off counting on about 2400 or so. Another thing is that when you start connecting in series and parallel not all the cells will have the same capacity and such so thinking you are going to double or triple the rated capacity may be a bit of a dream. Add to that the current draw and you may lose 20-30% of rated capacity. I would thing about 6500 to 7000 to be more realistic. I built a pack just like this one with 2500 mah batteries and I think I got 6700 mah. These are what I considered to be the best batteries I have used so far and I have been through around 7 brands... Stay away from the 20 for $30 Ebay specials cause they SUCK!

    Billy & 350,
Which batteries do you consider to be the best?
    Batteryspace has: LG 2600mah for $7.25 (item # 5457) or OEM 2600mah for $8.95 (#4521).

So the 5/4 li-ion pack will fit the DR slimline? looks like the li-ion 18650's might be slightly larger diameter.

    Thanks,
    Dave

yes, the DR NiMh pack is made out of 10 4/3AF Cells which are larger then Li-ion 18650's
