Default Drop downs hidden by stickys/posts

I've been having a technical problem with the site since the change. Often, when I click on a link that offers drop down options, that pane is covered by the post/sticky below it and I can't see/select the options. If I can scroll the page up, the pane becomes shift above the message and the posts above don't affect it - it's just not always possible. As an example, if I select the "Search Thread" link above, it's covered up by the first (this) message.

I'm using WinXP, IE 7 (can't use 8 until some clients fix issues). I also tried loading the pages in Firefox and it works fine. Aside from the answer of "don't use IE", do you have any idea what is causing this? Thanks.

Yea, DOn't use IE, use a real browser that follows the specs!

    -
Try changing the size of the window you are using, ie make it bigger, or smaller.
    Try clearing the cache.

    and get a real browser

Changing browsers isn't an option for some, me at work, for example. The only thing that worked for me was to change the skin to "D a r k n e s s" (down at the far bottom right of your screen). Of course, now when my boss walks by, he thinks I'm on some military website. Oh well It works for me.

I almost sent this via PM to avoid the mandatory IE bashing , but thought maybe someone else would have run into it and found a solution.

Should have mentioned I already tried the other usual suspects. (Reminds me of a time I was having issues with a site and the only support was online chat via a foreign country. After an exhausting go around, I was told to clear cookies, temp files, etc, then reboot and let them know if that worked...)

Yes, I found the same thing on Darkness working. "BlueDemonMod" is where I have the issues.

I guess I can always resize IE to "drop up" when need be.

That's been my experience so far....Darkness at work, BlueDemonMod at home.

LOL, on the reboot during an online chat.

Only solution I know is to get rid of the broken skin.

go here and see if it does the same
    http://www.completevb.com/

if not, then it's some changes that TJ and Chris made to the skin that is hosing it up.

It does happen there as well. Specifically, from the live preview, it happens by clicking on "Thread Tools" on:
    http://www.completevb.com/demovb4/sh...um&p=60#post60
    It too works in Firefox.

I started reading up on CSS and z-index values, but quickly got over my head. I'd say don't worry about it since it's not like tons of people have been complaining, and I know the workarounds. If someone knows and they stumble across this post, they can write it up. Regardless, thanks for taking the time.

FWIW, I use IE8 at work, and don't have the drop down problems. I use blue demon there.
