Default Advanced wreck training in sidemount

    Hi all

I recently finished all the range of sidemount (diver & instructor) courses with Steve Martin.
We also did the first PADI Tec Rec Advanced Wreck sidemount course.
This was an amazing experience wit Steve. We did the training dives on EUROBULKER X wreck in Greece. High level of experience and skills of Steve helped me and the other student guys to enjoy this type of diving. The all procedure was 15 sidemount training days. I was already DSAT Trimix Instructor with many trimix dives and courses. I fine tuned my sidemount skills during a student course and given my experience level as I have been an instructor for 3 years the sidemount instructor option was possible for me...

I would like to say thank you to Steve Martin for this perfect experience we had.

From now on all the range of PADI sidemount courses are available to Greece, Europe & all around the world by instructor Spyros Kollas.

edit : my post sounded kind of mean, let me start by saying congrats

Doesn't bother me, I'm not taking any courses from you

If your going to really teach real sidemount I'm of the opinion you need to have real sidemount experience as thats what the students pay for. Anyone can go buy the equipment look up a few pictures on the internet and go get in the water and figure it out, its not rocket science. what people need is for someone that has been there done that a lot to pass on what they have learned, you know, the things you pick up by doing instead of the things you were shown.

I've seen divers doing several deep bounce dives in one day to "fill a requirement", this makes me want to puke, they might as well just lie in their log book the end result will be the same.

It dilutes the skill of our "instructor pool" when this sort of things happen

I'm not slamming, I just feel this is a problem in this industry and I am passionate about it.

Please don't take anyones money to teach them until you have hundreds of sidemount dives under your belt, thank you.

You said you went through student all the way to instructor in 15 days for sidemount in your post.

I don't care if you've been diving backmount for 50 years, I wouldn't pay you for a sidemount course.

Not saying your a bad instructor, I don't know you, maybe your awsome, maybe your the best trimix instructor on planet earth, but you have no real world sidemount experience to be teaching it after 15 days of training.

When it comes to sidemount specific how many stories could you tell your students outside of your 15 days of training?

This is of course my opinion and obviously many don't agree with me, and thats cool, just stating my opinion on the subject.

With this in mind every new instructor has not to teach when he becomes an instructor.
So what is the point for someone to do an instructor course?
I didn 't took you from the neck to come in Greece to do a course with me.
I wrote that i had a very very nice experience with Steve.
So you can now choose Steve.
    Do you know him?

My problem is you have three advertisements embedded in your second post on this forum. Five if you count the two Youtube videos peppered with website addy's.

This post should be in a different sub-forum.
