    From the book jacket:
Cave diving has been called the “most dangerous participatory sport” in the world.

It doesn’t have to be. With proper training, experience, and guidance, you can be a skilled cave diver, and enjoy this challenging and rewarding activity, for a lifetime.

With decades of technical diving experience, including world record cave dives, and paradigm changing underwater exploration, Woman Divers Hall of Fame member Jill Heinerth, has created this full color contemporary guidebook.

Generously illustrated, “The Essentials of Cave Diving” contains practical 21st century underwater knowledge, including sidemount techniques and the latest rebreather technology.

Encompassing all levels of cave diving, from apprentice to expert, from sidemount to CCR, this guide is an essential manual, appropriate and relevant to all cave training disciplines.

What an excellent book. Have had a chance to scan it,and read a couple things. Looking forward to sitting down and giving it a good read.

Just got mine and love it. Very well done, I especially liked the clear yet detailed section on geology.

BUT, cave diving ranks #9, after cheerleading.

...more than 500 people have died since 1960 while cave diving in Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean alone...
They fail to mention there are more OW fatalities per year on average, than the highest year ever of cave diving (back in the '60s).

I have read it twice, last week since I got it. It is an excellent guide. An essential book for the novice to cave diving and the older cave diver who want to stay up date. A friend once told me about Jill " this chick know's it all".
