Thanks for the link, I enjoyed it.
Ever surprised by the amount of holes involved in cave diving.
Wow, very cool article, thanks!

Can you say "Canary in the coal mine"?
I was hoping the author would use that phrase (easier for an oblivious public to understand).......missed it, if he did.
Thanks for sharing the article. I have spent 6 years collecting fauna data at Peacock, and what happens following a flood is very interesting and brings up more questions. Water quality is the biggest issue, but exactly what water quality-nitrates,dissolved oxygen...?
I did a fauna count Saturday for baseline data to track population recovery, and return to trends. I found quite a few active crayfish evenly distributed throughout the system,so I would think DO is not an issue, but found a large concentration at the tunnel that intersects with Challange, which was springing. At the fissure area between OG and Challange I observed quite a few dead crayfish in this short area, which makes we wonder what is going on.

Kelly, do you take water samples at those regions to test for this stuff?
That's one of the reasons I took the NACD Bio Team course, but I have yet to be in the region at a point where I could be of use to someone to help learn more about water quality and cave organisms.
Well, was it in an area that would give you any clue of the nutrient content in the two areas you mentioned?
No,but would give an overall idea. One question is what happens during a flood to DO. River water will bring in an influx of oxygen rich water, but DO count later drops. Is this due to the influx of bacteria. I am hoping that the data collected will help answer some questions.
