    Default Sheck Exley

Is there any member who knew or dived with Sheck Exley? I'm just curious.

True, I dove with Sheck many times. Robbie, what did you want to know?

Sheck ran my NACD instructor training course in 1975 & I made a few dives with him during that course.

    Default Sheck

    Robbie,

I think you will find anyone who was around cave diving in the early 90s probably at least met Sheck and talked to him. He was pretty easy to talk to at the gatherings and usually was a presenter so he made himself available afterward. Imagine what it is like for what would amount to a celebrity in our small group. I'm sure there is going to be someone out there that had a bad experience with him, heck that goes for all of us. I just know from my personal experience he was relatively humble and willing to share his knowledge. But this is just my limited contact. I never dove with him or took a class. I'm just curious. Why?

Thanks for your responses. I'm new to this site, and the reason I ask about Sheck Exley is, more than anything, probably because I wanted to start a dialogue. I plan to get open water certified in the summer, and from there maybe more certification. There's nothing specific I want to know about Mr. Exley and no particular reason. I've really enjoyed his books and thought the memory of him might make an interesting forum.
