    Default Edd's surprise party

Whoever missed this really missed something! Stacy did an amazing job, not just arranging the most awesome birthday party I've ever attended, but keeping Edd COMPLETELY in the dark about it.

She talked about it privately to divers as we signed in to JB, starting about two months ago. Word was quietly spread on Facebook, and some e-mails went around. Suzy and Rodney came up from Miami, Wayne from Ft. White, Lamar and Lee Ann from Lake City, somebody from New York (whose name eludes me), plus the usual gang of suspects from all over the southeast. And a bunch of Edd's family from Oregon.

The funniest thing was Stacy passed out "Edd masks" for everyone to hold in front of their faces as Edd drove up (from a day of guided dives where everything strangely took longer than usual). Then Edd jumped out of his truck and gave a great big bear hug to just about everybody there. Seeing as there were about a hundred people, this took awhile. Then we went down the driveway to where two huge tents were set up. A dozen coolers had about eight different kinds of beer, plus several different wines and soft drinks. Then we all sat down to a catered prime rib dinner. I'm not making this up. Prime rib, grilled chicken, potatoes au gratin, salad, steamed veggies, rolls...

I'm hoping some people who took some good pictures will post them here. I took a few, but I'm a doofus and don't quite know how to set up a photo gallery.

Happy 50th birthday, Edd! Welcome to the second half-century!

Agreed, it was an awesome party! Stacey got The Madison to do the catering, which is about as high end as food gets in Marianna. It was great, I had to get seconds on the potatoes.

The Edd masks were hillarious, the birthday boy was suprised, and there was a hellova large turnout to keep things interesting until late.
Ever surprised by the amount of holes involved in cave diving.

    Default Sounds like fun

Sorry I missed it! Glad everyone had fun though... I won't be caving anytime soon unless I quit my job... thinking that's not likely.. so diving is on hold...
