Any chance this ever happened? I hyper-extended my ankle at Madison 2 months ago, and it is still giving me trouble. I would be happy to buy 2, scrub the steps, and leave them with the ranger... only problem is it will be the end of January before I get to Madison again. If there is a wire brush already there, please post it's location.

I don't know about the brush, but I was just there in Nov and the steps were slick. Don't ask me how I know.

A person could chain a brush to the steps and leave them underwater? A diver could pull the chain up, scrub the algae, then after kitting up, walk down less slippery steps.

I think the wire brush is a winner and if the state gives the OK the tread would be nice as well.
I am very glad to put tanks on in the water, if I were BM'ing I would be very careful.

Don't wire brushes in Florida rust when wet? I know they do in Texas. May need a new redundant pair every couple years.

I know this is an old'ish thread, but a January trip at Mermet with our northern Goat diver friends (don't ask) made me think of this thread.
They have bolted a rubber tread to the steps that seem to give sure footing. It looks like it was cut from tires, but when I looked closer, it appeared to be made for steps. It had ARC imprinted on it. I wonder if it would get 'slimed' over time? I need to ask the staff there what they know about it as far as maintenance.
Has anyone seen this used and already know it won't help?
