I have a weezle extreme, but don't always need that much insulation, especially on shorter dives. Can anyone recommend a good suit that is not so thick as the weezle?

I have one a temperate Pinnacle undergarments and it works fine for me (http://www.pinnacleaquatics.com/categoryprods.aspx?toplvl=11&catid=11&catprods=11) -- only two layers of fleece. They have a variety of other thicknesses as well.

I know Dive Rite makes a thin one too, it appears to be popular, but I have not used it.

I use a Tilos 200 gram. It's on the other end of the spectrum, very thin, but I use that for all my cave diving. I don't get cold easily, but I am usually fine after 80-90 minutes dives and 2-3 dives a day. Some of my buddies use 200g thinsulate which is a little thicker.

Weezle makes a lighter version than the Extreme. It is great for swimming dives. It is a little cool on deco, after a long scooter dive, but then any lighter undergarment would be.

4th Element makes the Xerotherm Artic which fits like sweats and is excellent for drysuit diving. Even when wet they keep you feeling warm.

The DR Polartec 200 suit does the trick for short dives...

I got my 200g fleece on sale at REI.

Check Campmor (http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/campmor/search/main.jsp?command=text&ip_text=mens+fleece+polypro), you could probably come up with a good layering plan for different conditions using a thermal underwear base, fleece jacket, pants, vest etc... And do it relatively cheaply.

Some sources you may not have seen, Inner Mountain Outfitters (http://www.innermountainoutfitters.net/subcategory.php?subcategoryid=28) sells caving gear which includes undersuits for colder climates.

B&C Wunderwear (http://www.bcwunderwearinc.com) makes custom cave suits and associated gear. They can make a fleece suit to your specs.

You might take a look on ebay at the seller rondel. He sells some really nice quality suits in different weights at a very reasonable price. Ships quick as well.

I agree with the Arctics, but it will depend on the water temperature that you are diving in. I find they are great for water around the 67 - 70 degree mark. Anything cooler than that, I find I need an extra layer.

I did wear these all winter last year as well, but had an extra layer over, for 37 degree water.

The Arctics are very comfortable, have excellent range of motion, and if you have a drysuit leak, you often don't feel it. :)

I thought we were talking about something lighter than what he has right now, which would describe the Xerotherms: http://www.fourthelement.com/xerotherm_arctic.php.

I agree, for anything colder then you should have an extra layer (they sell those too) or then maybe the SubX: http://www.fourthelement.com/subx.php

Thanks ya'll. I went with the Dive Rite 200 Polartec. That shold take care of the swimming dives and shorter stuff. For the long scooter excursions in JB particularly, the weezle can't be beat. It's just so darn hot for long cave swims.
