Anybody have an update on LR? According to "cave conditions" it's closed to public access. Updates appreciated. Thanks.

It's been open for quite a while. Vis changes depending on flow. 30-40 feet. Gear up and jump in.

I was there last Sunday, the river is backing up so the entrance is pretty clear. Flow has picked up a little bit; I would say usual flow for LR.

Given that I will likely only have one day to dive this weekend, I think that you would be much better off doing a scooter run in JB 8)

Oh no, its a 3-day weekend.

Problem with JB is that Stacy wants to dive, and she can't at JB. At LR she can screw around in the OW/cavern area. Ditto for Ginnie - she has something to do.

Need to get back to JB here shortly.... I'm missing it, especially after that video....

Oh no, its a 3-day weekend.

Could rent a boat from Edd and then she could dive the cavern area. Or just go in and not say anything, but you did not hear that from me 8) I'm hoping to get some time away Sat to go over and run the SS through the back end.

Hey, you're the one that planned the dinner for the wrong weekend :lol: I may just surprise the hell out of you and actually show up for that. Need to make the trip down to see my son anyway, and the menu did sound rather inviting 8)

I was just out at Little River today. The river run has really cleared up since Jan. 2nd. The water level is still up above the cement wall, but the water is clear.

However, the visibility inside the cave has gotten considerable worse. Today, it was close to 15-20 ft, whereas it was easily 30 ft + before. The flow is also up a lot. It was pull and pull most of the way.

I dove it on New Year's Eve on my way out of town and yes, it's open.

That being said, the walls were all stained dark and it was still pretty tannic. The Cavern area was flooded over the first platform on the steps and so tannic with river water that it wouldn't be much fun to dive right now, I don't think. Let's hope that it and Cow and some of the other stuff clears out before the next millenium.

I'm with Dwayne, JB sounds like a better call.

Man is that video cool . . . you'll be seeing me back in there shortly.

Actually, the basin was not too bad. I had a good time in the basin and the cavern area. The vis got bad near the cave entrance. Don't ask me, I just dive here!

Geez, no kidding about the pull and pull. Flow did seem quite a bit more intense than last week and my poor fingertips are still red. Gotta love trying to put everything into a kick just to stay in place. :roll:

Interesting how the viz went downhill and was a lot worse than I was expecting.

Of course, all this just made the dive that much more fun and challenging! :-D

Okay Pat, what did you do to go and piss off the cave gods? Hope the vis improves by the second week of Feb when I'll be down for a few, kind of hope that the flow is still ripping though.

I dove LR this Sunday, I thought that viz was good, but my buddies said that it sucked. They have dove LR for way more years that I have, so I think they opinion will be more accurate. :-D

Not quite sure what I did but they did seem a little miffed. :roll:

I will keep my fingers crossed that conditions improve for your trip down.

(Of course, having said that - it is possible now that I have really jinxed it...)

You got that pretty little SS to get you through it. The ride out should be kind of fun... :)
