Well I picked up my Optima yesterday and can't wait to get it in the water. I took the class before I purchased it so 1) I would know if I liked it or not 2) So I would not have it sitting at my house waiting for a class before I could use it. Sure hope I use it enough to justify the cost.:smt001

For you experience rebreather divers, How long did it take you to get all the hoses and equip set like you wanted it?

Congrats bud,

The Optima comes pretty streamlined out of the box. You might want to replace the "air2" on the inflator with another reg for bailout, depending on what you're comfortable with. Trimming the unit and adjusting the position of the counterlungs should be done first. It does have handy dandy little pockets behind your head so that you can add weight where it will do some good.

A couple of my friends like to put the handsets in transpac weight pouches on the waist belt, and fly with just the HUD. YMMV.

Just remember to have fun with it.

BTW Orange Scope mouthwash is easier on your throat than mint or evergreen...

I hope I don't get stuck again, but if I do rebreather and all of the other 6 million I have invested in cave gear will be for sale.:smt003

That's a deal, if you of course will agree to the $100 per use fee.:yawinkle:

...about a year. I've settled on a specific setup that I like now. But, I still look to optimize where it makes sense. The process really never ends. The biggest thing for me is that I wanted the rig to be as streamlined as possible with nothing protruding lower than my scooter ring. Bailout cylinders stay tightly tucked to sides behind arm pit. Cable from RB handset is wrapped around arm once to remove slack. I see too many people with that cable hanging waaaay out there just begging to be snagged.

I agree, I am working on getting everything firmed up so that nothing is hanging down. I can see that I will be working on this for sometime.

A one time fee of 100.00 would be no problem.

I use the Armadillo side mout butt plate and tank attachments with my Evolution and find them very steamline. I would imagine the Nomad would give a similiar streamline position. I also borrowed and idea from Leeanne were I use 2 al40's instead of one al80 that way I have an redundant bailout reg. and also seems to hold me more balanced.

Have fun and enjoy the ride.
