Lately, I've been getting some old threads come up when I check "New Posts", but these threads don't have any new posts. Here are a couple of examples:

Nope, not just you. Me, too. I have noticed they are all POLL threads.

Me three. I wonder if it's that people are answering the poll question and not leaving a written reply.

I would assume that is it, if a poll is voted on VBulletin counts it as new activity and it will come up in a new post search even though a new physical posting has not been made.

Possibly, but we get a lot of spam, and some of it ends up under the polls. When we delete the spam, then there won't be any new posts in the thread, but the notification is already out there.

Yeah when someone votes on a thread it gets popped up as a new post in the forum even though a new post was not actually posted. I see this a lot on another forum.

Martin.

Just confirmed by testing (thanks to my test subjects for allowing me to experiment on them, Joe)...simply voting in a poll does indeed cause the "New Post" trigger to fire. The "last post" date becomes the time/date of the voting, while the last poster user name remains the username of the actual last post.

Yeah...I got too much time on my hands :smt079

Good detective work, but I suspect what first brought the old polls back to the public eye was the spammers. I deleted spam from the poll area 2 days ago.

Yep, same here. Hopefully Forrest caught it and it will eventually go away as new posts happen.

Dive safe,
