That was me in the cavern outbound when you guys were on the way in (that's my torch backlighting the diver!)

does this mean i'll be getting royalty checks?

LOL

I was curious who was doing the vid. Are you the guy that got the SS for Christmas? Wish Santa was that nice to me!

Edd was pretty impressed with your scootering skills :)

BTW think I saw you inbound in the Ear too. Yellow housing on the camera with a 2-light bar?

That was not me in the ear (the one at Ginnie is what I think you are refering to)...We stayed at JB all week...The physical act of scootering seems easy to me....It's the thinking part that takes all the work... :-D

That was me inbound at the Ear.....

Light bar with two 21W HIDs, and two white things that look like pipe bombs.....

Was testing it out - it was still a bit negative and made for an "interesting" experience trying to carry it (its supposed to ride like a stage), I need to make the "bombs" a bit longer.....

(I had the housing alone trimmed for salt water; fresh, of course, is different..... and then there's the lights, etc etc etc)

That be the beast.

We may be down there next weekend - if we are, the trim on that beast will be up to snuff by then, and I'll be fixing to use it in earnest....

I love JB... that was some awesome video..... :)

Hey Ryan, awesome video, makes me want to get right back down there. Where in the cave is that second video clip with the sidemount restriction? That's gorgeous . . .

All of the video was shot in the first 500 feet of the cave. The part you saw in sidemount was the wishbone circuit and the second half I am not sure of the name. Edd told me it may be called the beanie line. When you are swimming in on the mainline keep an eye out to the right immediately after you drop down the first fissure crack. You should see the lines on the right of thew mainline on your way in.

Wishbone circuit - the circuit that starts with the long jump to the left immediately after the first fissure?

Beanie line! LOL!

I think some people refer to what I call the wish bone circuit as the horseshoe circuit. Edd said there used to be a beanie tied to the end of that line after the sidemount restriction hence the name. Since I do not see any formal name on a survey map it's the beanie line to me. When you reach the end of the beanie line you can actually see up into the cavern zone and divers swimming over you (good luck getting through the no mount restriction up to there though). It is a fun curcuit to do. Not a lot of swimming in the flow as well.

Cool - yeah, it looked familiar - the jumps on both sides of that first fissure are really cool passage...

Actually, I believe it is called the horseshoe, not the wishbone. I thought we straightened you out on that already  The line on the right that you referred to, is it towards the end of the first breakdown, just before you go up?

(I had the housing alone trimmed for salt water; fresh, of course, is different..... and then there's the lights, etc etc etc)

Cameras (still, or movie) make for interesting Diver trim...

Yesterday, Tom, Ary and I dove the Bowl and Cavern at Ginnie; I had a COMPLETELY new gear kit...finally ridding myself of pseudo Rec/Tech gear, it was my first hop(s) with a backplate/harness/cell/steelie 95/H-valve/cannister light et al....given that I had THAT much new gear, I passed the C-5050 to Ary and Tom...

I suspected, but never appreciated, just how much I use the Housed OLY to control fine adjustments in pitch trim...being slightly negative, I had come to unconsiously use it as a trim weight, pitching down by holding it further forward, and pitching up by bringing it CLOSER to me...

AND, both Tom and Ary commented on what a monkey/football combo a housing is if not used to it...<g> I can only IMAGINE what the effect of a Video housing with twin HID's must be like...

Yup....that's it...There are two lines there. One goes around and comes back out on the mainline in the middle of the second break down room. The other goes back up into that little area that was in the video.

Thought so, I've done the line to the second breakdown but have yet to venture down the other line. I will have to give it a look one of these days. Just proves what has always been said about just how much there is to see in JB without the need to go very far in. 8)

Yep.

They're a lot of fun. The little "point and snap" cameras are pretty harmless in this regard (I have a little Sony in a "point and snap" housing too), but larger housings, and particularly video setups, are another matter.

The buoyancy of the rig and its trim needs to be spot-on if its not going to make for some very interesting trim issues.... :o

I like the way I've got the arms; one of the problems with a lot of commercial setups is that they pay zero attention to height! Some manufacturers have negative battery packs and positive lightheads, and they stick the battery under the housing and the lights above. This works ok in the ocean but in a cave the vertical profile can make it nearly impossible to manage cleanly.
