Hi,

a small incident arising out of a recent fun trip to Florida. Accustomed to the idea that Dive Rite computers are very good at what they do, I was quite casual about changing over from my old Bridge II to a Nitek Duo. I did not fully grasp the significance of the Duos "gage mode" until it dawned on me while ascending from a dive to 193 feet that it didn't seem to be doing any deco calculations. That's right, it had somehow slipped into gage mode so no calcs were forthcoming. Rather too casually I had not prepared tables for the dive either so I had to wing it, which I did without incident. (the deco I chose was 1@60, 2@50, 4@40, 8@30, 16@20, 22@10 (on pure O2) after spending 21 minutes between 120 and 193 - I'll post the whole dive profile if anyone's interested) Watch out for gage mode!!!

(Background: finding my normal haunts with limited visibility due to flooding I decided to take a peek in the Eagles Nest, using air on the first dive as a preliminary peek before doing it properly with Trimix afterwards. So I gave myself a floor of ca. 190 feet on the air dive so the PO2 maxed around 1.5, briefly because there ain't that much of the Nest above 200 feet. Of course I had tables for the Trimix dive, but I should have made some for the air dive too.)

OOPS!!

All the best,

Charles.
