I normally stay at the Best Value motel on Hwy90,mainly because there is the perfect tree that I can chain my boat to,and not have to worry about someone backing into it. Madison's is a pretty good steak house, but you always have Ruby Tuesdays and Sonnys near the interstate.

Great tip about the tree/boat!! I want to take my 16ft Jon boat up there someday.

The Executive hotel isn't too bad and they give discounts to divers. "Old Mexico" is pretty good food.
Cave Adventurers has trailers, but you would probably want to share one. They are a little higher than a motel room.
For breakfast, the Waffle Iron on US90, near the river is great.

I've stayed at the Ramada, it's nice and clean, relatively inexpensive, and not too far from the Sheriff's office. I'll second the Waffle Iron, great breakfasts. They don't have a lot of tables however.

Old Mexico has moved locations, for anyone who hasn't found out already. Its still on Hwy90, but its about a 1/2 to 1 mile West in a standalone building now. Last I checked, they still didn't serve beer due to not having the alcohol liscense for the new location. Its still one of my favorite spots.
Madison's is good.
Waffle Iron is good.
I've stayed at the Executive and the Ramada, both will work if you're not too needy. Executive gets my business more because its cheaper and closer to the Sheriff's Dept.

I like to stay at one of Edd's rentals. Keeps the money in the family. :smt023

The Executive seems to be the cheapest followed by the Ramada. Definitely a case of you get what you pay for, but it depends on how long you are staying and how picky you are. Edd's places are nice and I try and stay there first if available. The hotels back towards I-10 on the east side of town are much newer and nicer, but also cost more. Basically, it depends on what you want to spend and what you expect to get.
Cave divers seem to be a cheap group in general, so for the most part I see them at the Executive or splitting one of Edd's places. I travel frequently for work so I like to be comfortable above all and don't mind paying a more bucks if needed. YMMV

Welcome to CDF Ben :)
I stayed at the Days Inn before I bought a house here. :D It's no longer the Days Inn, but I believe still run by the same people. It's across the street from the Executive and about the same per night.
Breakfast - The Gazebo
Lunch - Firehouse Subs
Dinner - Old Mexico
And even though I live here I really haven't been to many of the other restaurants.

When are you going?

After staying at several "off brand" locations, we decided that Holiday Inn Express is worth the extra $$, good night sleep, no eegit neighbors, clean-no funky smells, and the "free" breakfast is very good (in comparison to the "7 types of carbs" at other places...).
Edd's trailers would keep $$ in the family as others mentioned.
For meals, Firehouse Subs are excellent and Ruby T's has Samuel Adams on tap....<G>
Old Mexico is an excellent value (loads of food for reasonable $$) and they do have Negra Modelo!
Have fun!!
Dive safe,

... what are your favorite places to eat when in Marianna?
No doubt here. I have a little propane grill. There's NOTHING like burgers or 'dogs under the pavilion!

I normally stay at the K.O.A., or I rent the house just down the street from Edd's. My favorite restaraunt in town has "Fried Green Tomatoes."

Mike, are you coming to Marianna for the shindig in May?
Would like to meet up if you're coming, the regs are still doing well.
Thanks again for the deal on them.

That is my plan. I hope to get there for the Friday night campfire and leave Monday.
There are a lot of people I would like to meet to say hello.
Glad to hear those reg's are working out good for you :smt023

The Trailer next to Ed's Cave Adventures. Taco Bell for the extra propulsion.

I wonder if methane is a better insulator than argon? I've often mixed the two...after a couple chili dogs  but never used methane straight up.

An advantage is that the methane is already warm when it is added to the suit...and it's free!

I just got back from Marianna yesterday. Saw Forrest as I was leaving Edd's Friday night.
Stayed one, AND ONLY ONE night at the Ramada. NO WAY. No hot water and they just kept lying to us about when it would be fixed. Plus I agree.....it is rather seedy with a very obvious odor and various "indescribable stains" of unknown origin on the carpet, walls and bedspread. We checked in Wednesday night and they didn't tell us the hot water was out. We called a short while later after trying to take a hot shower and were told it would be repaired by the morning. The next morning....still no hot water. When we asked the GM he told us it wasn't fixed yet....DUH. We asked for a break in the rate and were told we were already getting one and would not get another. Conferred with the other couple we were traveling with and opted to MOVE pronto. I called the Holiday Inn Express and advised of our horror story and desperate need and they had 2 rooms we could have right away for early checkin. We packed up and proceeded to check out of the Ramada and the GM said he didn't know the hot water was out until he came in that morning and we told him. HA! The moron! We reminded him the night clerk confirmed she knew the water was out and had stated the mgmt and plumber had been called.
We headed up to the Holiday Inn and checked in around 930 am. The clerk got us squared away and told us to help ourselves to the breakfast.....we did.
Headed over to Edd's, got our pontoon and had two lovely days of diving! Jackson is pumping nicely and the vis is great.
We ate at the mexican grill across the street from the Holiday Inn Thursday night....very good food. Also ate at Madison's Friday night.....I had the pasta, my dive buddy's all opted for steaks. Breakfast each morning was at the Holiday Inn....bacon, eggs, cinnamon rolls, biscuits & gravy, bagels, cereal, yogurt, muffins, toast, fruit, juices......um, no brainer. Lunch from our cooler on the pontoon rounded out our culinary needs nicely.

And whether or not your shots are up to date!!
I stayed in the Executive Inn. It is old, but clean, and the hot water worked :-)
I don't spent a lot of time in a motel room, so I just need a shower, bed, and outlet for charging stuff :-D

NEVER trust anyone that ever stayted at the Steamboat in Branford to render any opinions on accommendations. (although 20 years ago, the chicken was pretty good)

What makes you think I ever stayed there? :-D
Yea, it was pretty bad.....
Never had the pleasure of staying at the Steamboat. But in my early cave diving days I did stay several times at the "Lacey Country Manor" across from Ginnie. They had a great setup there......too bad it had to end for means beyond their control.
Anybody out there remember Lacey's? It was always interesting to see who showed up for one of Anita's world class supper spreads.....

Yea, it was pretty bad.....
I stayed there once. It rained all day, it was going to rain all night, and we were camping. My buddy said, "The heck with this. I'LL pay for the room."
It was better than camping in the rain.

Not much

Rite of Passage you say? Is that the SAME sort of "Rite of Passage" as bazooka barfing Bali-Hi wine all over the inside of your fathers car? That kind of thing?

I stayed at Lacey's twice. I was sad to see it see it go away. I felt a little gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) in the room I wound up in.
