:arrowredI'm a cave diver based here in Mactan Island, Cebu, philippines. If you are somewhere close to our area, my buddies in the Mantaga Adventure Divers would be pleased to make contact with you. There is only 3 of us in this group since we do not know of any other certified cave divers this side of the country.

We have gone beyond exploring the site here in Mactan and we've set our sights to Bohol island. We've yet to fully explore the vast fresh water caves there. In our first exploration last year, we found 5 potential sites that are potentially world class. Maybe we can establish that fact when we go there later this year.

Speaking of local sites, the area here in Mactan is being looked into by the local government as a potential water source. I'm trying to raise some awareness and advocacy for it from the local diving community but i know only cave divers will really feel the loss if this place is lost.

This is very interesting, but I haven't a clue as to where the caves sites are or what its like to get there. Do you have pictures or description of these caves you've found?

Thanks for the slideshow. I've been searching for some information about cave diving in The Philippines and haven't been able to find much.

When is the dry season? What is the best route to take to arrive in this area? Are there any dive shops in the region with doubles for rent?

The dry season is here already. Late March until early June will have the least rainfall. We get our gas and gear from Scotty's Dive Centre. (Website: www.divescotty.com, E-mail: dive@divescotty.com)

The best route to take is to hook up with Scotty's to arrange the logistical support and then fly in to Mactan- Cebu International Airport.

Bohol Island is a 1.5 hour trip by fast ferry from Cebu. By car ferry, it will take around 4.5 hours.
