View Full Version : DEC-24. Holes of PSSP and around...

Me and D dove OG-Challange-OG and Telford on DEC-24. Due to my favorite kind of weather in Florida both dives took less than 4 hours including gearing up drivin around and airfills at CE. On some sunny lazy summer time these two dives would take a whole day. Boy, so "cold" weather keeps man really goal oriented and focused. Viz at OG-CH was not less than 25', viz at Telford about 20' and flow was kicking. All mosquitos were either frozen dead or spending day at home with families.

Since i had plenty of time after dives i went for a walk in woods to take pictures of all beloved holes: Bonett, Waterhole, Pothole, Olsen, Cisteen, Challange and .... there are two sinkhole like depressions filled with water and duckweed, and one deep sinkhole with rock and clearwater in it. All three are north-east from Challenge in PSSP forest. I also stopped to look at LR (slightly tanic , steamimg, water up to cement border) and refurbished Royal Spr. park (clear slightly tannic water, will be opened for access in Jan 2005).

I'm sure that PSSP was scanned with resolution down to inches so:
- does anyone know if these depressions north-east of Challange can be part of the system, may be berried extension of the tunnel that leads to Woodies Room or Distance Tunnel?
- What sinks in PSSP are allowed to enter or leave a stage in it besides P1-3,WH and OG?
- is there connection between Bonett and Peacocks?

Sounds like you had some good dives. Glad you hooked up with D. I had a nice long drive that day first to my sister house in Peachtree City and then on to Bridgeport AL. Good to see family but I miss the diving as I have not been wet for too long now.

#1 I think the sinks you saw are referred to Pump,Walker or Baptising. These don't connect physically, but hydrologically to Peacock. Be careful, you may be on private land depending on where you are.

#2That is it. Olsen is a work in progress to getting it reopened;hopefully when we get the interpretive trail started.

#3No. They have two distinct water sources too
