Any chance of reserving copies in advance....? Would suck to have him run out, and would probably be usefull in determining ballpark demand...

Hey everyone, I hope to have the answers by tomorrow......................please be patient as Don is in Africa, Easter Weekend, and the time lag with their publisher.

O.K., everyone, here is the deal.............................the book will be available in limited quantities at the workshop for $40.00 The book is published in England, and at this time, they are sold out with none being available until the end of April. The book will not be available in the U.S. until September. Don and Shirley can only bring a limited amount of books on their flight from Africa. If you would like, you can order the book from England at roughly 18 pounds plus shipping when they get more in stock.

Bottom line, is if you really want the book, you need to be at the workshop early. Even though I have received numerous requests for pre-orders for folks not attending the workshop, it is not fair to those who plan on attending to get the first chance to get their autographed copy. I wish that I could do more folks, but I'm not a distributor, and I do not have the time with all of my responsibilities in getting this workshop together.

I suspect that the content will not change between the CDS meet and the September release of the book. It therefor makes not difference to want it now or to wait until September.. I will wait

An e-mail that I wanted to share with everyone.

Hi Bill,

Just a quick hello to see if you're still fine?
We are very well and quite busy.

Just a note on the book - it's being release with another title in USA -
Diving into Darkness, still by Phillip Finch. Trust the Americans to be
different again! ;-)

Warm regards,

Andre and Don Shirley

Not to be confused with Diving in Darkness by Martyn Farr, or Diving Into Darkness by Robert Rossier.

Does this make my autographed copy of Raising the Dead priceless?? I just finshed the book it is great read. Eventhough I read all the articles already and talked with Don at Indian Springs when we dove there after the Workshop. There was alot more depth to the story. I hope you all enjoy it when it is available.

I just finished the book and must say it was well written. While I am too old to do extream deep diving, Dave Shaw was within 10 years of my age and with only 333 dives perhaps pushed the envelope just a bit further than he should have. It appears to me with 20/20 hindsight that he dove untested accessories in a unfamilar configuration which led to his death. Others may disagree, but when doing a dive in an overhead environment one should do it with total familarity of one's equipment.
This is a good read for those of us in the sport of cave diving but probably will not appeal to a very wide readership. Rest in Peace Dave Shaw.
