Just a little Suwannee County trivia-50 years ago today it snowed 5" in Suwannee County and since it stayed cold the snow lasted for three days. The last time it snowed that much in Suwannee before the date of Feb. 13, 1958 was Feb 13, 1908. No it is not snowing in Suwannee County today-thank heavens-but it is raining.

Sorry for the off-topic post, but what is on-topic here anyway? I think the storm last week was the largest single snowfall here since 1990. Madison just broke its all-time record for snowfall in a season on Monday. We have 80 inches already and I think it's supposed to snow three of the next four days.

That's why we moved to Florida from NC... that and the caves, of course.
Funny how many of us (cave divers) have done that....is there a trend?
Dive safe,

Also the reason we left Pittsburgh 9 years ago.
We have azelas blooming here, the red bud trees
are blooming, the leaves
are coming out on the fruit trees etc. etc. I'm staying put.

I was typing Same Reason but it came out Sane Reason. I moved from Michigan in 1990 when 1" of snow fell on April 1st. It has started to snow in late September the fall before and continued through October, November, December, January, February, March, and then April. I had enough after 46 years. Hitched up the sports car to the van and drove South. No job, no prospects, but no snow. Never been back except for business and then only briefly. Love that 72 degree water!.

I hear you, folks. I hate this cold weather we're having. I'm looking forward to a time when I can move to Florida.
Here in south Georgia we had about 1/4" of snow several years ago. That's more than I can take.

I remember the day I promised myself I would move from Michigan.
I was on my way to work at 5 am, the thermometer said it was -11 actual [not incl. wind chill]. The day before it was the same -11, the day before that it was an actual -14.
That third day, I said out loud to nobody in my truck but me... "I will NEVER spend another winter in Michigan".
Later that year, I sold my snowblower to my brother and never looked back! LOL

Our day of decision was a series of weather days, first 34" of snow, then an ice storm
about 3/4 inch thick then 25 degrees below zero it was Jan. 18th 1994-the day my first granddaughter was born-it took us 5 years to move but finally did it, the last year there we started getting snow when the leaves were on the trees still in Oct. never quit snowing, in the spring I slipped on the mud & dislocated my right shoulder-hurt like HELLLLLLLLL-two months later we were gone. I have told all my kids I'll never return there to live.
