Hi All,

I am heading down to Mexico in May to do my full cave course and I was wondering if I could get some ideas on the ideal wetsuit and thickness for the caves down there.

Atlan 7/5mm Semi dry is perfect for that.

Do you already have a wetsuit? Do you dive dry in Canada?

I dive a farmer john in Mexico, mostly because I have one. I have seen people that live in the far, cold, north, dive their drysuits in Mexico. They use much thinner undergarments, though.

The water is pretty warm, low 20s C. One guy I was diving with, left his wetsuit suit at the hotel, and made the dive in shorts, and a t-shirt.

Basically, it depends on what you already have, and your tolerance to cool temperatures. Farmer Johns are nice, since you can wear all, or only part of the suit. Drysuits are fine, if you can take a couple of thin undergarments along.

I dive a 5mm wetsuit while down there and am very comfortable in it.

I dive a Whites trilam suit. I also dive a 2 piece 7mm wetsuit for the warmer months. I am worried about hauling my drysuit down there. I'm not sure if the 7mm will be too much either. Thanks for the input.

Leave the dry suit at home. The 7mm might be a bit much but not enough to to go out and buy a new wetsuit...unless your looking for an excuse :smt102 If that's the case, either a one piece 7/5mm or a two piece 3mm would be my choice.

With your 2pc 7mm, you can always unzip the top a little while your diving, I'm assuming it's a front zip.

One other thing, wear a hood. I tried diving without one in Mexico, and discovered that Mexican limestone is just as hard as Florida limestone
