Hi,
Rookie question, how long of a drive (at or near posted speed limits) is it from MB to PSSP?
Thanks,
Andy

Right around 45 minutes, if you take the back roads. Madison Blue is currently closed to diving due to river intrusion. You might want to keep that in mind before driving there.

Ditto on that. Also, one thing to know is that there is a limit to the number of divers in the system at the same time. I think it's 12. Anyhow if you show up late morning, you could have to wait for a team to exit before you can go in. Happened to me once. I usually try to do Madison first thing in the morning. As Mike said it is currently closed.

What a bunch of lead-foots! I've never been able to make it in under an hour, but I pull a trailer and CAN'T speed.
MapQuest calls it one hour, three minutes, and 37.85 miles.

I have about 6 weeks before I head back down. I hope they reopen it by then.

The question is how do most people make the drive from Madison to Peacock? There are several ways, with probably the slowest is going back to I-75 via hwy 6.

That takes you west, then back east. I like taking crossroads off highway 6.

There is a shorter more scenic way than Chimie's but it's not any faster, paved all the way [now] but more stop signs and T's.
My dialy commute was from [basicly] Peacock to Madison Blue so I would try different ways all the time.
***********
Rather than taking the left just before the Taylor Store [Citco Gas Station on 51] take the left immediately after the Taylor Store. It will quickly curve to the North.
Take this to CR250, Left [west] onto CR250 to 217th Rd. Right [north] onto 217th Rd.
217th Rd will turn into River Road, take River road to 90, left [west] on 90 to Old Blue Springs Rd.
North [right] onto Old Blue Springs Rd to State Rd 6, right to Madison Blue Springs.
****************
There's an even shorter way but not all paved and it's slower...I don't remember all the names of those roads :-)

True but it's a whole lot shorter than going all the way to I-75 via State Rd 6 and back.

Done that many times, and it is a good route. Many people don't know about crossroads that will take you to hwy 90 from 6,then the usual route near the ag station to Taylor store.

LOL - On my way home one time, on the shortest route with gravel roads. I had to call in an accident. Someone rolled their truck on "Elleville" something or another I think is the name of the gravel road.

Welcome to rural south Georgia. "county maintained" usually means you don't change speed, just hose off the dirt later. I always felt I had a career in dirt track racing.

Thats why I own two trucks....one for traveling the nice roads(the 4x4 Chevrolet with the nice heated leather seats and extended cab) and one for my own version of the Baja 1000(the Toyota 4x4 with the big tires, roll bars and off road lights). I will have to say the Chevrolet has, at times, doubled as the second Baja truck !!!! What the heck its a truck!!!!

So THAT'S why I ended up in Pensacola.
I just set Tom-Tom on shortest route possible and wind up on unnamed sand rut roads that aren't on any map (except tom-tom's i guess)! I have no idea where I am, but Tom-Tom brings me out of the woods right up to the front door. But my favorite part is the soft english-accented voice of jane when she says, "In 300 yards you have reached your destination."
Only one time has she failed me and that was on the way to Peacock. She took me the back roads like always, but it was as winding as a river and as up and down as Pensacola Bay chop with a 25knot south wind. When she said, "You have arrived at your destination," I was passing a set of metal mail boxes all locked up and mounted on a couple of big posts. She took me to where PSSP gets its mail!
