Since going to steel doubles, I have always fought a head down trim position. I dive 95s and 112s in a7mm top, 3mm bottom farmer john wet suit. I am specificly interested in learning of a wing that is designed to combat this problem ,meaning more lift to the head and less to the hips, but welcome any suggestions.Actions already taken include, adustment of tank bands, wing and back plate.7mm top and hood,3mm bottoms, trim weights on butt pad, and carrying gear low on my body. I am also planning on switching from a stainless to an aluminum back plate. Thanks for input.

This is going to sound like it's coming from left field, but are you SURE you're head-down? The reason I ask is that I used to dive with a person who was convinced he/she was diving head-down, but he/she wasn't. After years of being a 45° open water diver, diving totally horizontal FELT head-down to him/her.

I'm not saying this is necessarily your problem, but it's worth considering. Have someone swim beside you and critique your position

Good point, but I do very little open water diving. My buddy keeps me up on his perspective.Naturally I can function O. k. swiming but maintaining position is difficult. Thanks.

You are not wearing a lot of neoprene on your lower body. If you are head's down now you may have issues if you ever dive dry w/ thick undergarments. But to answer your question, a lot of wings have multiple holes so you can shift the placement of the wing in relation to the rig (e.g. using the lowest holes will move the wing farther from your Cg so the lift will have more leverage on your trim and bring your head up. If you want a wing that is shaped with more lift around the shoulders, you may want to check out the DSS Taurus wing. It's a doughnut shaped wing but is widest at the shoulder. Hope this helps!

OMS sells the Larry Green Wing, which is longer and thinner than standard. The lift is thus equally distributed top to bottom. You may not need a wing that is wider at top, skinnier at bottom (like the tauras), but one that equalizes volume top to bottom (LG). I have not used either wing, but I think the LG wing has three grommeted holes (top and bottom) to allow custom placement.

Have you tried moving the bands up on the tanks to shift the CG aft?

A *BIG* item that can effect trim is fins. Do you use Jetfins, or some lighter type?

In backmount, I am perfectly trim with my heavy rubber fins, but *way* head down with floating plastic fins.

I have tried the standard 60 lb. OMS wing with the adjustments to no avail, but I was wondering if the L.G. wing would help since its design is different.I was concerned about the extra length providing more boyancy at the hips.Thanks.

Tank bands are at the shoulders and fins are dive rite.
