good job last year!!!! looking forward to this year.
It is on the NSS-CDS website, under "Events". Please keep bugging Ed for more info for the website :-)
Thanks FW I was also thinking I should put this in the CDS section on here.
I will be bugging him along with a few others to get things posted or sent to me so I can post them ASAP to keep things going. I know that he has like maybe 2 speakers that are still iffy right now but as time gets neerer more and more will be posted.
Maybe this time we will get RBD dive in.

It will be nice to be back since I made the very first workshop, but missed the last two because of work.
Decide where and we can move this thread if you want. We would like to keep it in one spot otherwise your going to get a bunch of cross posting. You'll just end up answering the same questions twice in allot of cases.
It's up to you as to where to put this but I would suggest here rather than the CDS forum since it's is a semi-private forum? Only a suggestion.
This is a good place for it. I will put an announcement, and link in the NSS-CDS forum.
That must be a pic of the section that still has not been mapped yet and is so deep that we did not see all the stash of gear they used to get there with.

Well, I plan to have my GF drive bye a few days before the trip to see if there is a boil comming out.

This is waaaaaay too early for me to commit but if all the planets were to line up just right is there anybody from North Central Florida that would like to split travel expenses?
Gasoline, hotel room, time behind the wheel? There may be some other misc. expenses I'm not thinking about that should be split.
I'll take my van.
Never to early but a good idea to get started. I wish I could help out more Mr Mike but right now the B&B is full if everyone comes and stays that has mentioned. I know of at least 1 meal you wont have to worry about. Maybe 2 if there is enough left over to be taken up to CB to snack on.

SLIM - I'm not all that familiar with the area, although I did Dive Roubioux and stayed at the Star Motel? I think it was. That worked out just fine for me last time.
Is this whole shindig in the same area?
Yup the Star is about 2-3 hours drive away. The whole shindig is in one area. The small town of Poplar Bluff.
CB is about 30 minutesnorth of Poplar Bluff and is a must see place to dive. just ask Bill Rotelia.

So it sounds like Poplar Bluff rather than Waynesville is where I need a hotel.

Poplar Bluff has a lot of motels which can found when doing a search (Town is about the size of Lake City). I stayed in the Drury Inn last year, but the site of the workshop is a restaurant and motel.
http://www.bullwinklesrusticlodge.com/ stay here and you can stay with Rocky,Boris,Nastasha :-)

I wll start contacting companies to sponsor this years event... Those of you who want to sponsor should contat me at the shop. 573/778-3483 Tables will be available..
All indications are that this will be the largest workshop to date in the midwest.. Numbers are growing everyday.. Come meet all of your customers in the Midwest.. Or come make some new ones???? If you dare!!!!!!!! HA!! HA!! ( Is that a challenge?) You bet your

Ed,
Which rebreather(s) will be in the Discover Rebreathing event?
I have commitments from dive rite, But we are not exclusive, we are inclusive..
All are welcome as long as there is a qualified instructor to conduct the activities...
The manufactures should let me know ahead of time so we can plan for it...

Ed, if you need presenters, I (and possibly Marbry Hardin) can talk about Tennessee cave diving.

I'd like to add Mark Wenner too. Now if you could get them all to show up, well then, it would be a show! I see that FW is attending - so let's add fuel to that fire!
I think the union of MO and TN would make for a very interesting coalition. The underground underwater systems between the two are the new cave diving frontiers. We have more undiscovered, discovered but virgin, possible virgin passages in known systems, than anywhere else on the planet. We are the future of cave diving.
ooops. too much beer.
bye,
-slp[
We need to work on that for next years. Maybe we can get TN vs MO and some of its new frontier that many have been working on so that we can show that FL and MX is not the only place to cave dive.
Looks like we have a busy schedual for this year and maybe next year we can make it a 2 day event 1 main day and then Sunday with greak out sesions.

It was a great Workshop, and most of us got a couple of dives in. The speakers were excellent, and the lunch was good. There was a great barbecue afterwards, at one member's home.
Thanks to Ed for putting this on, and Sharon for inviting that whole group to her place for a barbecue. Also thanks to all the speakers, some of which drove hundreds of miles to attend.

sounds like all or most of the thank you's have gone full round, but there many who made the talks, and the dives, much more enjoyable who have not been mentioned. I can not mention them all, cause I simply do not remember their names won't even try. Still I hope my smiles and nods at the time will now become thank yous on the forum.
we had a great time and a whole lot of it was due to nameless divers who were there to listen, learn, help out, and talk about cave diving practices, techniques, equipment, approaches, and the basics of cave life, hydrogeology and comparative analysis of florida and missouri springs (thanks to jo for a great talk), and newly discovered, explored, surveyed, and charted caves in the Ozarks.
It is always enlightening and heartening to see so much activity in the southern midwest. many organizations claim national status, but few actually include the nation. Local Mini-Conferences are the ideal way to acknowledge local cave diving and to extend a national organization to the nation.
Next year I'd llike to see more Tennessee divers on the talk list, maybe two days of talks instead of one, more Texas divers too, and more on the life/biology of cave environments. And some divers from Florida would be nice to invite...jablonski? irvin? rhea? any gue instructor? let's see what they have to say too. Maybe some talks on training? And some on Dive planning (although gene melton's talks on CO2 was eye-opening, cutting edge, forgotten gas) would be nice too.
well, what I mean is thanks to all, had a great time and special thanks to Mike (unkown last name, smart car owner) for his unexpected, but always on-target presence, during our deep dive.

Thank you Skip for comming. I was just thinking the same thing. Make it 2 days. I was thinking in some about training, keping up the skills since we seem to have a new trend of accidents. Maybe a few rooms to have some breatk out sections so that we can all sit at teh round table and talk about info and share it with each other.
Hmm guess Ed will be busy getting it all set 12 months can go fast and yet not be fast enough.

I like the idea of breakout sessions. I would like to see more offered for the non-cave or cavern divers, too. I dont know how many people I tried to invite, but they looked at the agenda, and it was all way over where they was at at their diving career. I also passed this along to Ed, but I would like to see more on accident analysis. There is always a lesson to be learned from accidents and incidents.
What a great workshop, great dives, wonderful weekend!
Ed, Ernie, Mitch, Heidi you did a great job organizing and hosting this event, thank you so much. I’m already looking forward to the next year meeting.
All the talks were very informative, I’ve learned quite a bit, so big thank you to the speakers for taking time to put the presentations together.
Sharon thank you for the relaxing barbeque evening.
Everybody I met – thank you for the comradery, sharing your dive stories, equipment tips, information about MO, AR and TN caves, and insights into underwater art.
