Matheson Hammock State Park

Is there a Matheson Hammock State Park in Florida? I found a reference to it, but don't see it on the State Parks webpage.

I've seen it referred to as a state park too, but I think it's actually a county park. There's even a reference to it as a "state park" on the FLDEP site - http://www.dep.state.fl.us/water/wetlands/delineation/wetcomm/wc_se.htm

Where there are "dry" caves, there is the possibility of wet caves :-)

A friend of mine (of BRC fame) just did a bunch of survey work in Miami. He said he would never go back to that kind of cave. He was cut up pretty bad by the sharp limestone.

Good to know. That matches what Alan said about the "dry" caves. Next time someone asks if there are any caves in S FL, my answer will be yes, but you may need a Kevlar drysuit :-D

No kidding... I was just at Matheson Hammock last weekend.

After the discovery of that ocean cave a few years back, I've wondered if there might be some hidden caves in the Everglades.

I may be very wrong here, but I seem to recall a dye trace up north, that had an outlet somewhere in the everglades. I thought the site was too inaccessible, but maybe now? Maybe someone can chime in that knows about the trace? Also didn't they have a window somewhere in Biscaine Bay?
