Any other cave divers Blacksmith for a hobby? I am just getting into it but there is something relaxing hammering away on red hot steel.
Have you tried making tanks yet?

As an ex-farrier I still have all my tools and enjoy a hot forge and banging on an anvil. Take care.

I used to do a lot of forging & welding and some casting in college. (I was a sculpture major). I always enjoyed how forgiving metal is - if you don't like it you can just re-bend it, or add to it, or whatever. The art dept had a nice little gas forge, and I didn't have to pay the gas bill, so I took full advantage of it.

Yep, I really enjoy blacksmithing. It makes me feel great. Good stress relief too. I really enjoy pounding things into submission! Pm me if I can help with anything.

I also have done alot of metal sculpture. Love heating and bending metal. Hardly minded the the burn neither, except when that stray piece of hot slag works it way into my boots and ends up right between my toes. Never stopped welding but danced abit.

I've been known to make a few knives but I always used commercial bar stock or reworked old blades. I've always wanted to try forging my own someday but never went that far. Maybe one of these days. Sounds like a lot of fun!

I have done a little blacksmithing from time to time over the years - mostly what I have learned is that once it stops glowing, hot steel looks just like cold steel! Doesn't feel the same, though.

Bullwinkle: Under the spreading chestnut tree the village smithy stands......the muscles in his scrawny arms are strong as rubber bands...
Rocky (stage whisper): *Iron* bands!
Bullwinkle makes puny little muscle, which immediately collapses..
Rocky (shrugs): Rubber bands!
