I'd like to get some feedback if you think a small concert would be something good to raise money for the Cave Diving Museum? I've got one band and my son saying he would support it and he is almost positive some other bands would support it and maybe some folks here might know some more. ( I am thinking mostly local bands since they have a local following ) I am posting links to their myspace pages to see if anyone has an interest. I've not talked with the rest of the board yet as they are out of town but it came up after seeing my son play and one of his friends bands doing a show for a good cause. The first band has agreed to play if we can work out a date. I'm pretty sure the other two would also play. Some of the music might not be every bodies cup of tea but we could get a mix and maybe more people to attend if folks ( Groups ) want to help out. Having a place to host it might be interesting but I've got one place so far I think willing to consider it but I still considering better places.

I thought about this after remembering a good friend, a fraternity brother that used to sponsor concerts in Montgomery and make enough money to put himself through school. He used to do a band called White Witch over and over again selling them out. He sponsored several concerts after he came to school. He did a show with Kiss when they were first having some success and I personally was going to help with a concert with STYX right after Tommy Shaw joined them. Tommy was in a local band called Harvest right before he joined them. That concert did not pan out as they went into the studio to record Equinox instead of touring. I got my money back but the thoughts always been in the back of my head it might be a way to raise money and support new bands as well as raising money for something I believe in and support.

The first band would be more than likely the headliner band! Its an Orlando band

The Sevilles
A local Lake City band. They sound better in person and do a good show!

Any mods know how to edit the gif I put in the message. I thought I knew how to post a photo ( gif ) in a message but it did not work!
Thanks in advance
Tom

Sounds like a great idea Tom, more logistics than expense to get it going. Isn't there some sort of music park in the Madison area (have seen the signs numerous times, but never rode out to see what is there.) Having it outdoors in a park like setting (don't forget the Bar-B-Que) would likely draw more than just the cave diving community to it (great PR opportunity there.) What time frame are you targeting for this?

I was thinking early spring. I've got one outdoors place I think willing to donate a place. I was hoping for an indoor place in case of rain. I believe his place would provide the bands with a covered shelter but not the people. Its all real early right and just in the idea phase but having one band say ok and pretty sure I could get at least two more is a positive thing. I do want folks outside of our community to be involved as for the reasons you suggested and because it might make it more successful.

I spoke to one board member tonight about it and he was upbeat. I got to talk with the others to see if we want to pull this off. I pretty sure this would be a lot of fun also.

It sounds like a great plan to me. If there is anything that can be done from afar, I would be happy to do what I can to help you.
