Ordered this video before released. I have dove the Mill pond area on many occasions and this video accurately represents the experience of diving these caves and the scenery of the surrounding area. I have seen other productions by Becky and her work is truly artistic. She is much more than a diver with a camera. The attention to every detail is as if you were there. You can actually can see more in this videos than on a dive because of the great lighting, photography and of course the HD cameras. The best I have seen so far. Hope she will do more work in the future.

AWE...blush...thank you so much for the compliments and Im really happy you enjoyed the DVD! I really did want to capture the entire area, because its truely a part of the experience, not just diving in the caves, everything around them. We are planning another shoot in High springs in late February for our next DVD. Im really excited about this one, and as always I cant wait to get back into the water.
I was down teaching a class and Jeff knew one of my students and then when I saw it was Jeff he was talking to and then found out what a small world it was, we invited Jeff over for dinner and he showed my students some small portions of the video. Well Before I left Edd's I had to buy a copy from him. Then I had to watch it all and then when I got home I had to watch it again. I have to say that I have seen many and have acquired many cave video's. This is one that I have to put on the top of my list. It was done with a awesome talent and expertise like no other. I thin it is well worth what they did and the price. Even if you do not dive those systems it is still worth the money. I have been to almost all that they have in the video but never at the time of the year. It gives a different perspective of the system. I will be waiting for the new stuff they are putting out and will buy it even if it is of systems that I might have never done.
In fact I plan to use it when I do classes in the Mill Pond area to let others see what they will be getting into and see if they can identify some of the spots they saw in the video.

I want to personally thank Becky and David - Liquid Productions, LLC for their donating the "Mill Pond Experience DVD" to Florida Governor Crist, the President of Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Art Kimbrough, and the Mayor with the City Council Members of Marianna, Florida.
This is what it is all about..............educating the local government and community in what the cave diving community is all about, and our goals for the exploration, preservation, education, conservation of our underground aquifer.
Thank You "Becky and David!"

I have a big collection of cave diving videos. Some of my favorites are from CaveX2 Productions. Becky's video is at the top of my list right now though and I've watched it over and over. My wife is kinda sick of it though since it's on all the time <g>. I just bought a Blue Ray disk and 1080p LCD TV. When can we buy it on Blue Ray!?

Hey,
Im so happy your enjoying the DVD, I am sick of watching it too, so I guess its time to shoot another one =) We were just down in FL for 10 days, but as you know conditions in most of the systems werent cooperating with shooting. Took some cool stills though.... As for Blue Ray thats complicated, we are looking into it for our future DVD's but have to wait for replication companies to get going with it. There is a very high cost in getting them, and not much demand right now. They must be copyright protected, and encoded and that is an additional fee of a couple thousand. We would like to but would need to sell ALOT of Blu-ray, we are able to burn from our edit suite but its not a "pretty" professional looking disk like the one you received with the Mill Pond Experience DVD. We'll keep you posted, either way there will be more =) I have to tell you though (just to tease) It does look really good in HD!

I'm curious about the copy protection, ever consider just going the trust people to be honost route?
Anything digital can be copied, protection or not, DVD's, DRM you name it, it doesn't really stop people.
Or is the idea most people dont' know how to bypass it so it helps?
I've never done any production work so I'm not sure how the figures look on the bottom line, maybe copy protection really does help and its worth the investment?
Correct me if I'm wrong but the deal behind the copy protection is you have to pay to license the protection technology?
I dunno, I just see copy protection technology being just as effective as the FBI warnings that tell you that you'll go to jail if you copy it, so is it really worth the operating expense.

Along the HD route have you ever considered electronic distribution of it? along a DRM type delivery method?
It would allow you to deliver HD to people without the up front expensive of Blu Ray, I think there are places out there that let you charge for HD downloaded content etc.
Just an idear.

I'll let Dave answer those questions and I do trust people but its a requirement. As for DRM thats something we can look into.
Hi Mark, It was nice meeting you too, I hope to see you and Kelsey up at the NSS CDS workshop in May, its a fun time and a great learning experience (Plus there are some great dives up there i've heard =)

ah, well, my question wasn't along the lines of if you trust people :-)
More of a question of a feasability assesment in terms of dollars.

Yes - In fact we did consider that route. Blu-Ray (BD) does NOT allow it, hence the wording in Becky's post "They must be protected"... They must be copy protected to distribute BD Media by Blue Ray. Unfortunately it's not out decision - but the costs for replication are considerably more for BD over DVD. You have to pay Blu-Ray a substantial fee for producing media on BD. Then you have to pay a replicator after post to encode it correctly with the copy protection. Finally, most replicators are not accepting orders in quantities of less than 5000 discs due to the high costs. Many other replicators are not even producing BD yet - It's just too new.
Needless to say - copy protection on BD is not an option, it is mandated by Blu-Ray. There are numerous post production boards with small producers and production houses complaining about it.
There may be other options, or BD and replication issues may change by the time we're ready with out next DVD. We are also certainly considering all options and want nothing more than to get the best video out to our customers. It is all shot and edited in HD. It's actually easier for us to encode it in HD since it is all edited in native format.

ah yea, that would be sony squeezing money.
I was backing HD format just because I don't like sony :-)
I have a 72" ultra-hd set and was so hoping HD would win out over blue ray but whatever, too late now!
I would love to see this in HD myself.
One of these days I'll get around to getting a player but the prices are very high right now.
I've got an up convert player, so I may have to check this DVD out.
