A point of order to the moderators - if I get called a *****, am I allowed to get equally nasty back?

Andrew, I agree with you, the new rule 6 needs some clarification by the moderators, and perhaps we could come up with a method of communicating our thoughts without violating rule 6.

As a thought, I offer a form of shorthand, similar to text messaging perhaps, whereby we could express ourselves properly.

My suggestion breaks certain items into categories, with different items

Category 1 – General insults (or compliments) – such as

1- You are a pipsqueking prick
2- You are a pompous little wad
3- You are a self absorbed *******
4- You must sniff the reeking bums of hobo’s.
5- You must like to have your earlobes licked

Category 2- Qualifiers to the general insults (or compliments) – such as

A – Your lack of insight makes me believe that ..
B – Your bombastic style convinces me that…
C – Your diving skills are so bad that…
D - You are so ignorant that….
E - You are such a beautiful woman that….

So instead of actually typing out the insult, we can use shorthand. Let’s say that there is a real pain in the ass that I want to slam. For argument’s sake, lets call him “Randy”. I can just type

Randy, B-3 or, Randy, D-4

Or if I want to wish Shirley a happy birthday, I can just type
Shirley, E-5

Naturally, if you mistype, you could have a great deal of confusion. Like if you told someone E-4 or even A-5

Of course, this list is by no means complete, we can each add items, and even new categories, such as sexual innuendo, family insults , beard jokes, and yes, even fat jokes.

So what do you think, will this comply with Rule 6??

This is the new rule #6: Comments about individuals, agencies, organizations and businesses will be removed if found to be inflammatory or cause the discussion to be uncivil.

As I see it most of your list would likely cause the above

Why can't everyone just express their opinion about the topic, and try not to get personal? You can say you think the idea is bad, without saying the author is an idiot, etc.

FWIW, very few people will see this, until we get the thread order issue fixed in this forum :-)

I say we should be able to add to the list as needed. In a few weeks we'll develop a whole new dictionary. A reply could read "Listen now, A16-C35-M27-A114-G5!!!!!! By the time you look all that up, you won't remember what the heck is going on and forget about replying and the whole argument will die out.
Simple ingenious thinking OFG-1!

Come on, Forrest, this is the Internet, where we hide behind keyboards just like we hide in our big SUVs as we run others off the road.

If everyone who was going to say something bad about someone else had to do it in person, I think there would be far less of that going on...

to reim me a new one...

I'm not taking sides one way or another but I just had to acknowledge the brilliant play on words.

Plus I'm board...where's my beer?
