I have a website with a few personality surveys and a couple of opinion surveys that I would like cave divers and others too, to fill out and email to me. I will score the surveys and send you your personal results, as well as the accumlated findings to date.

Part of the surveys are related to some research I am doing in the Psychology of Scuba Divers (and cave, wreck, deep divers) in my job at Middle Tennessee State University (and so have had to get it approved by the ethics board), and part of the surveys are related to my role on the Science Committee of the NACD.

All submissions are strictly confidential, do not put your name on anything and I will use your email address only to report back to you one time, then delete the mail and your address. any further correspondence will have to be initiated by you (like more info wanted, etc.) after that initial report back.

The web page is: http://www.mtsu.edu/~psyskip/survey.htm

Thanks in advance for your help.

You would get more replies if you simply made the whole form online and have it email you automagically.

Thanks to all the replies so far, I'll reply to each one in the next day or two.

The webpage links to the surveys go to Word Documents that you can print if you want, or just open in Word and answer that way, then save, and upload as attachment to email. no need to print if you don't want to.

I don't know how to do online forms that automatically score and record; my web skills are meager and my budget is more meager.

If you want to print off copies of the surveys, you are welcome to do so. They are open to the public, shareware, copyright free, except for the big five, and it's ok, but the author would like an email letting him know. His email address is at the bottom of that survey. I will send you the description of the survey and the scoring instructions if you want to do your friends and family. These surveys are designed to measure differences within normal variability, they are not diagnostic tools, no matter the score you can't say "you need help."

Thanks again to all the replies so far and keep them coming please!

But not everybody's computer has Word on it. Mine doesn't.

How about if I print them out, answer the survey questions with a pen, and mail them to you via the US Mail? If this will work, please let me know your mailing address. All this download and attach stuff confuses me. I would much rather pay for the postage than struggle with the computer. :D

Thanks,

Mike

Word is the closest I can come to universal, given my poor ability and knowledge in these matters. I am still looking for a way to do online survey, point and click, automatic scoring, etc., but it has to be something free, and something I can learn!

in the meantime...would txt files be a good alternative to word? I can easily add links to txt versions.

I dont believe that you would want me to fill out any opinion or personality surveys. I have no opinion, and my personality is bad. (Just ask my ex wife)

That's better than a bad opinion and no personality

How about putting all of the questions into one big word or .txt document? I really hate having to download so many little files.

ok. I'll do it. give me an hour or two, then check the same web site.

and the idea is that you download and save the word document, answer it in word, and then upload it as an attachment to an email to me (psyskip@mtsu.edu).

I was told about "survey monkey" and am now converting all the surveys to that format, so if you wait a few days, you can fill out the forms online without downloading a thing. the same web site will provide links to original word documents, one big word document, and the website for taking the surveys online.

thanks to all who have filled out the surveys. I've begun scoring and some have their results back from me. The results are pretty simple. You get a number, the range of possible numbers, and a short interpretation (average, but on the shy side of average, quiet, but outspoken if the situation requires it, and you tend to enjoy novel exciting things, think independent, and are laid back, easygoing).

Quit talking about me, Shirley!

"Shirley" you jest, Russell! I'd never talk bad about you...and risk getting ticketed about my atrocious grammar and spelling!

Yay for Friday!

Skip is in NFL this week, he's actually cave diving of all things!

I am also wanting to see the results of his work. As long as he doesn't tell me I have no business cave diving.

Sorry I've not been paying attention to the forum. I've been busy doing a little diving now that the ENT cleared me.

The surveys will be online by the end of next week (I will return to work monday or tuesday and put it at the top of the list). I'll post here and everywhere else I can think of when it's all set up and ready to go.

Also, for those of you who have not received any results from me, that too will be coming soon. please just let me dive a few more days, it's been so long....

I believe that Miledge Murphy (spelling?) did a study of cave diver personalities back in the mid - 80's .... might be an interesting reference for your study .... it was probably published in NACD or NSS/CDS journal.

I have finally managed to convert all the surveys to an online format. You can take them one at a time, whenever you wish, and come back later to do some more. I do appreciate all of you that have filled them out so far, and if you have not heard back from me, you will soon.

Go to this webpage to find the surveys in the format of your choice:

Thanks to all,
