We did the traverse and were told that our reel would be retrieved by fellow divers....as of 6:45 it hadn't happened. If someone would retrieve and leave at Bill Rennaker's (or with Ranger Janet) I'd appreciate it.
This is a black halcyon primary reel. "Barbara/San Francisco" and my phone (415) 420-1126 are written on the reel, together with runic symbols of the sun, moon and sea.
If found, give me a call. I'll pick up here till Tues or will pay for shipping.
Thanks,
Barbara

Y'all are some futuristic divers, that's for sure
Good catch, Ben. I can't believe I missed it last night. But I fixed it now.

The dive team that was to remove the reel Sat. was a set of new cave divers and I told them if they felt uncomfortable at all about pulling the reel to let it there, which must be what happened, they made the right call for themselves. I'm glad someone pulled it for you.

Maybe their instructor certified them "No reel Full Cave"... It's one of the many new cave programs for PADI divers to choose from...

Personally, I wouldn't pull someone's reel unless they (themselves) told me so. I can understand that someone wouldn't pull a reel just because someone (not the owner of the reel) said so, ranger or not. The last thing a new diver wants to do (and an experienced diver alike) is to pull a team's reel while they are in the cave.
(That being said. I know Janet so I would trust that she is right but they probably didn't know her. Third party communication is always risky.)

They erred on the side of caution…exactly what they should have done if there was a shred of doubt.
