I miss having an underwater setup, but still enjoy taking pictures from dry land. Here are some of my favorites, from recent dives.

Your 8-25-07 shot of Blue Spring; which Blue Spring is it?

Thanks,

Ditto, not a whole lot shoot a fisheye, I like the different look.

I could never get myself to pony up the cash to buy one for my SLR.

VERY nice pictures. Good job.

Its difficult to use well IMO, sometimes the effect just doesn't lend to the image... I thought it worked well with those two shots though. My 11-22 gets far more useage though.

What lens are you using for the Little river shot? 1.8? It makes it look HUUUGE!!!!

Nice shots.

I have a "cheap" fish eye made in Russia. It's the Peleng 8mm. It's a fully manual lens. On a film body it gives a 180' circle which is too drastic/artistic but on a crop body (most DSLR) it turns out to be a nice fish eye to work with. Used to be $200ish new two years ago. They have gone up in price because of the exchange rate. It's nice solid metal construction and comes with adapters to fit Canon and Nikon bodies. It's not too good wide open but once closed it makes good shoots. I don't know if it would be any good underwater since it needs a lot of lights.

Here is some info.

mcauliffe I can bring it next time I'm around if you want to see/try it. I have the mounts for Canon and Nikon.

Here are some examples I shot a while back on my Canon 350D. Sorry no springs.

Its a Zuiko Digital(Olympus) 8mm Fisheye. They are a bit pricey, but have a full metal body, autofocus, and they are completely weather sealed. It provides 180* viewing angle.

The Pelong does make a quality manual focus lense if you don't need as much speed and aren't printing too entirely large.

There is no comparing to do here. A $800 Olympus vs a $200 Peleng but it's a fun lens at low cost. Actually I think it's a good bang for the money lens considering the results I had with it.

Do you have a UW case ? I wonder how your 8mm would do under water ?

I had grand plans to setup one of my dSLRs for underwater, then I hopped into the world of cave diving and got very broke very quickly. LOL :) I even had to sell the dSLR I planned to house.

I kept my E1, for its uber tough build and weather sealing.

One day, I'll pick up one(or two - they're cheap at $400) of the E410s(LiveView and small size) which I think will make for a perfect dSLR for UW use.

In the past I've had a set of C5060WZs that have since flooded. Now that they are discontinued, they cost significantly more used and only in decent shape than what I paid new. So I just gave up on them... Just gonna house a dSLR eventually.
