I'd been sick for weeks and eventually got sick of being sick and continued diving despite it. My buddy is also not feeling well (down with the flu) but we both wanted to go diving.

So we set up a stage dive in Cow Upstream hoping to push beyond our current penetration limit (previous dives had been backgas only). I lead setting a good pace but have to pause every few minutes wracked with coughs that shake me from head to toe.

As the dive develops in the first few hundred feet I feel OK other then the wracking coughs that I hope are not distracting my buddy. I feel the coughs are detracting from the dive but the dive itself is nice and I just wish they would stop.

At close to p250' (d60') before the Rockstream Drop I suddenly stop feeling the urge to breath (a noticeably odd thing to feel while swimming forward at a fair rate) - followed shortly by the regurgitation of breakfast.

Taking the regulator out of my mouth I emitted a short brown coca-cola congealed mass into the water before me and quickly dodged left around it and down the hole to the tow line and the 70' section.

Fortunately the coughing stopped after that and the dive continued forward without further incident. We didn't make very good penetration on the dive but the dive the next day went much better.

My buddy hadn't noticed that I had thrown up. After the dive we agreed that my buddy following behind me definitely didn't swim into my mess. ;)
