Hi jptrealty,

I was just browsing the Cave divers website for the first time and found
your posting for the HS Explorer.
Since I am in the field for looking for a new dive computer, I was
wondering whether the DC is still for sale.

If so, would you mind sending me some more information (i.e. serial number,
date purchased, condition,...)?

I also PM'ed you this message, just in case (your email address isn't working for me).

Thanks and kind regards,
Eric

Hey FW,

thanks for the tip - but I already tried it and the evil Daemon came back

So keep your fingers crossed for me :D

Hi Chip,

mind if I ask you how you like yours? I was reading about the three major competitors (HS Explorer, VR3, and the HE) a lot but having the opinion from someone actually using the thing is just unbeatable :-)

Thanks

I have an HS Explorer also.

I like it. It has a nice big readout, easy to see underwater.

The RGB works well on deep dives, but Bhulman works better on shallow sives.

Hi Eric,

No problem! I really like my Explorer, but I only use it in RBGM mode for trimix dives. It has several different user selectable decompression models.

I have never seen a price lower than $500 for a model M Hydrospace Explorer.

BTW: Forrest dives with a HS Explorer. Maybe he can offer an opinion? He uses different decompression models, based upon the type of dive he’s doing.

Did you see the Dive Computer Brawl posts?

Hi FW,

just to save jptrealty's reputation. I checked my email and he sent my a PM. The unit is already sold.

Oh well, had my hopes up already

Thanks for all your help and advice. I'll keep my eyes open for another opportunity.

The seller has not sent me an item (a Poseidon Odin regulator) that I had paid for a month ago. My check was dated and sent on November 26 and cleared my bank on December 8. As of today, a month later: no regulator, no money back, and he is not returning my emails either.

I will be interested to see if the buyer of this computer actually receives it.

Well, good luck to the fellow in Russia who bought this computer.

I did receive the following e-mail yesterday:

"JOhn is away he will be back tuesday, I work with him,"

That was it. As of today, Saturday, January 8: no regulator, no money back, no communication as to status from seller (jptrealty). My check cleared my bank one month ago today . . . Disappointing, to say the least.

Do you have a phone number for him? If so, tried calling? Any response that way? The address you sent the check to...residential or business? Let me know what part of NY he's in(is it NYC?)...I've got a couple friends up there in law enforcement that I might be able to convince to drop by the address he gave you and see if he really even lives/works there.

Well I dont know about your state and how they handle thigs but here in Georgia if you have the check and it is signed and it is over $500.00 it is a (FELONY) my man and they will pick him up on a warnt for theft by fraud and it is not pretty. I had a friend to buy a car from a guy he sold three times for $1,500.00 and they told him anything over $500.00 is a felony. So long story short the guy is in jail for 2yrs. Serving his theft charges.

I think Mike has a good idea; it could help flush him out, or make him honest.

It was interesting to see how a similar situation was handled by the Inspiration list. We saw a scam on E-bay, for an Inspiration, so people asked the appropriate questions and the actual transaction was with a police officer. The scammer was arrested and the Inspiration was returned to its original owner.

I hope I'm wrong about this and jptrealty completes his transactions properly.

Not to mention a couple of big boys with badges, guns, and a police helicopter that can scare the ever loving sh!t out of him, if nothing else... :-D

I tried to buy a dive light from this guy. The price was great, but it went up after I e-mailed him. I didn't feel right about it so I didn't buy the light. Looks like I got lucky. Good luck and I hope you get your money back or receive your merchandise.

As of today, still nothing. I want to thank the respondents, and I will be following the suggestions made. It sickens me to think a diver would do this to a fellow diver.

Maybe thats the key, as you mentioned a diver do this to another diver? In regards he may not be a diver...... We know he doesnt cave dive. are there anyother types of divers? hmm, nope :)

I have his home address and got his phone number from directory assistance. I tried to call it, and he has had the Line "temporarily disconnected." I wonder why?

Still no regulator, no money back, and no communication.

As of today, Friday, January 14, no regulator, no money back, no communication from jptrealty. Thanks to detective work, I found his business phone and cell phone and I am trying those; I left messages at both numbers.

The poor guy from Russia that paid for the computer is now after him, too.

I feel victimized and that does not feel good.

he also is a memebr of scuba board and deco stop, on SB he had posted alot of stuff 2 months ago , along with the HS explorer, i contacted him and found out through SB members that MOST of them were still waiting from 2 months ago for dive gear that they had purchased and never recived.

I can tell you, i was going to buy the HS Explorer last month, and after servral Pm's , and the warning's i recived from SB members, i left off with him, that somone in my Family would meet him, and at that time pay for the item and pick it up, i belive he said he lived in NJ,or NY, and my family lives in NY. Once it was arranged to sell it that way, meeting my family, then exchnaging of money, i never heard from him again, which lead me to belive it was all a fake, and the other SB members were right.

I can tell you i heard from him everyday through Pm's on SB bugging me for money, then when it came down to the only way i would do the deal was by meeting in person, he backed out, check the others fourms, he uses the same names, BUYER BEWARE on this guy, for sure.

:bekmask He won't be posting on our gear page anymore... not as jptrealty or jptrealty@hotmail.com anyway ...

Glad to hear their after him, hopfully it's not as bad as it seems, ;)

I just joined this board and I'm sorry to hear JPTRealty has been here as well. I was the first purchaser of this computer and I sent the guy a check. I didn't hear from him after a week or so and so I immediately put a stop payment on it. I guess the guy does travel.

I heard from him later saying that he's always on the road and that his secretary was supposed to send the stuff out, but she messed up. Anyway, by that time I had already picked up another explorer so I passed on the deal. I guess I got lucky.

The saga continues:

John Taylor finally replied this week that he had tried to send the regulator twice and it had been returned to him by FEDEX both times. But FEDEX usually leaves a message on my front door that they tried to deliver but nobody home. No FEDEX messages on my door.

He said he would send it again and that I would have it Wednesday. Today is Friday and nothing. I e-mailed him asking for the tracking number.

Re our poor Russian friend Oleg who paid for the computer, Taylor told him he had sent it a long time ago, and sent him the FEDEX Tracking Number. The number is not in the FEDEX system; Oleg checked and I also checked for him.

I've decided not to go away quietly into the night and will do whatever is necessary (within the law, of course!) to obtain the regulator. It's not the money now, it's just the awful feeling of being ripped off . . . by a fellow diver no less! Divers have always been the finest people I've known so this is a disappointment, to say the least.

Sorry, this is probably more than most forum folks want to know, but for those who like soap operas and detective shows, I'll have more later! Good diving to all.

Just minutes ago, the nice Mr. FedEX Man just delivered me my Poseidon Odin Regulator, shipped by JPTRealty! I am psyched! And it came with a nice Beauchat brass SPG, too! Wow! Too much!

Well, I am a happy camper. And it restored most of my faith in fellow divers. There is a God.

I believe now that Oleg, our Russian friend, will probably get his computer, too. That really makes me happy.

I did get a note last week that JPTRealty had been sick, very sick, so perhaps that was the reason for the delay. I hope he is better.

Thank you to all who posted support for me and my now concluded plight. It helped me through the dark days. That, and some dark beer. . .

Happy Day to all,

Mr. Taylor, please send newer tracking number, the one that overseas recipient is expecting from you after parcel was received in OGDEN, UT. And as your message stated was sent again. It is still understandable that you might just were confused with Fedex Express international shipping paper work requirements. Hopefully you completed it right this time.
