Something that just occurred to me the past couple of ays Kelly is the guide fees that all guides are susposed to charge for Indian. If these fees will be in effect they need to be posted. Mind you, I am not lashing out against this charge as when you add up the investment the guides are making their profit margin is very slim. Potential divers do need to be made aware that a fee struture is in place; I have been told this week that it is $150 to the guide and a $25 dollar donation to the YMCA. Please check and see if this will be applied to those who dive during the workshop. Listening to those who dove there this week I have heard that the dive is well worth the cost.
Thanks

Thanks Dewayne. When somebody asked what the requirements were to dive,I was thinking in terms of credentials and experience. For Indian there is no guide fee, only the $25 fee to YMCA which is a donation. There are other requirements, and they are listed on the guide form ie gas needed for the dive etc,but interested parties can look at the sign in sheets.

Thanks Kelly. I saw the guide fee catch a couple of divers off guard this past week and did not want to see it create a potential problem for this weekend. The guide fee does seem high at first, but onceyou start adding up all of the expenses (breathing gas, transportation, insurance, etc.) that the guides are faced with to take divers in, you see that they are really just breaking even. It is good to hear that the guide fee will be waived for the workshop. Kudos to the guides who are donating their time and talents.

Where is it $150 to dive, and what have u been smoking?
You mean it doesn't cost you that much every dive? :?:
Damn, I gotta stop asking for those gold plated line arrows when I go to Ginnie...

While this has been hashed out elsewhere, there is NOT a fixed guide charge at indian. Each guide sets their own fee and as some guides have larger opportunity costs they have higher fees, my hourly work rate is $225/hour so if i were to guide at indian (figuring time involved and expenses) i would have to charge each diver $750 or so (i would also expect lunch and a tip). Bill
Wow, Bill. How much do I owe you for all the dives we've done at Jackson Blue?
Tell you what: I'll take you on the Whirlpool at the Destin jetties and call it even!

Ahh yes, pricing is such a difficult thing, i usually know i am too low when i get calls from india wanting to outsource to me...
Hey Russell, don't you remember the deep discount i gave you? You just did not notice my tip jar, i need a larger sign on it i think.
Tip jar, eh? Maybe I need to get one for the trailer. For times like when I rebuild a stranger's regulator in the parking lot of Little River . . .
I was about to take my regs to the LDS, but now I'm thinking....
When will you be a Little River next?
