Tomorrow, May 7th, will mark the sixth anniversary of Steve Berman's death. Many a new cave diver and many old ones should be mindful that as the peak season draws near please plan safe dives and make sure your gear and you are up to whatever dives you plan to do. /Ken

Maybe a recap of the lessons learned from this tradgedy would be helpful? I know he was solo-diving, but was it ever confirmed that somebody changed the location of the guidelines in the circuit he was diving?

I think you may be thinking of someone else.

I met Steve for the first time in September of 2000, he was my instructor for apprentice and full cave. Steve was a phenomenal person both in and out of the water.

I had to seriously re-evaluate my choice to cave dive after his death, and I am sure I made the right choice to continue diving caves. In my opinion, Steve wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I miss you buddy !!!!

Dive safe everyone.

Steve was a phenomenal person! I met Steve Berman in 1997 and I had the pleasure of taking Technical Nitrox, Trimix and Trimix Gas Blender with him.

I can still remember Steve wearing his Frogman hat at restaurants, reading books on deco, and being teased about someone named Karen at Ginnie. I still miss him after all these years!
