Looking for suggestions where to go. I am hitching a ride to FL. with a bunch of O.W. divers. They are going to Kings Bay at Crystal River. I have the use of the van while they are there. Looking to do some caving in that general area. Full cave cert. Looking for a buddy also. If the cave diving falls through, I will have to dive with the Manatees... :( Please help. Thanks in advance, Brian

Dates?

If you can have your tanks filled prior, you may have time to dive WW.

Welp, you might be able to sneak a dive in with me on my way to NFL if we get it planned now.

I would be able to dive WW with you on Friday evening after work and on my way north.

Waynes World is about 1 - 1.5hrs drive from the Crystal River area down 19.

If this is to much of a drive, you may be able to swing a Eagles Nest dive on Saturday. Or do both, like I would... :)

Access to Waynes World is subject to signing a NSS-CDS Waiver, which I can bring, and also being a member of the CDS. You also need 100 cave dives, since visability issues and silt are a heavy factor in the cave.

Overall the current conditions are decent for the system, 15-20ft of vis. :-D

Email me offline if you wanna arrange a dive with me there. joe <at> tegg-inc.com

ps - the map you look at online, is nowhere near what is "mainline" there... Here is a good sample of the "tour" at Waynes World which is a circut (go in on mainstreet, come out the 'shortcut' line)

You have a trip planned to the Nest for the weekend? I might be up for another dive there this weekend. Depends on what happens with work this week. I'll be out of town until Friday...not sure what time Friday I'll return. May have a dive planned on Sunday...but not sure yet.

No, I was telling him that in his place I'd dive WW on Fri night, and then do a nest dive on Saturday.

I am making a trip to NFL this weekend, but would be willing to stop along the way and dive with him at WW on Friday night.

In Crystal River there is only one place to get any fills beyond straight air. That is Birds Underwater on US19, north part of town (one of the first places on your right as you enter town from the north - 352/563-2763).

They have both Nitrox and Tri-Mix (.50 cf He and .35cf O2, I believe). The shop opens at 9am but getting tri-mix depends on who is working. Only Bill, Diane, Rudy and Marty can do mix fills; but one is almost always there. Just don't show up between 10:30 and noon - that is when the tour boats get back in and the place is a madhouse.

Bill is also a Dipolder guide if that site interests you. Just call head to see if he can go.

Hudson is about an hour south, Cheifland (Manatee Springs) an hour north. Ginnie, Peacock and Little Riverall two hours north.

BTW, if you've never done a Manatee snorkle, don't automatically ditch it. It is pretty cool and we have more than 200 in the bay right now.
