Hi all - as a follow up to Curts previous message:
The Central Florida Cavers Grotto will be hosting the 2007 Cave Cavort at Ginnie from March 9 - 11 at Ginnie Springs.
There will be guided tours to several of the caves in the Gainesville and Ocala area. We will have a reserved site for camping right by the Eye and Ear (perfect for a quick nite dive after a day of caving) and a simple bar-b-que on Saturday nite.
It is a great way to get a little taste of dry caving and meet folks from the local grottos.
A pre-registration form can be found at the following web-site. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to send me a PM.

I hope many of you take advange of this opportunity to expand you caving activities. There are several of us in the Central Florida Grotto that really pushed hard to have this event at Ginnie so that we can include and invite more Cave Divers into the Dry cave world. Please don't worry if you don't have all the equipment there is going to be stuff you can use.
We are also planning on doing some hands on stuff with conservation and verticle rope work. If nothing else it's another great party at Ginnie.
Saturday night we are planning on having a nice fire ring going. We would like to invite those with musical talent to bring along your favorite instrument and help make it a great family fun campfire.

I will be there. Sounds like a great time. Seeing as how I am new to Florida, this would be a great way to meet new people. Anyone up for a dive Friday night?

Well The time has arrived. Some people have really worked their buts off so I hope we are going to see some of the folks come out for this. If you ever thought Dry caving might be fun to try here is your chance. There are trips set up to go to close by systems and I think there is gear to borrow. (hardhat and a headlight) Come on out and have a good time the worst that can happen is you dive Ginnie and meet some folks.

We went and had fun dispite what others might have said.
If you were at Ginnie this saturday diving you might have seen our group at the Devils pavilion. It was a great time that was the result of a bunch of hard work by the Central Florida Cavers.
There was Great food all day Saturday thanks to Bernice one of the CFC wives. She did a magnificent job. If anyone came over Saturday Diver, Caver or Tuber I think they were offered some food and drink. I know there were a couple of folks that had never been in a dry cave that took part in the guided trips. I'm sure there will be reports coming.
We did a Saturday night dinner of Hotdogs and Hambugers that I think went very well, if I do say so myself, Thanks to Bob and Marvin and again Bernice for all the help. And Especailly thanks to Debra Young and Chip who persisted in putting on the event when others said cancel
Also Thanks goes to TJ for providing the Softdrinks and for providing this space that lets us communicate to the group.

Thanks to all involved, I had a great time. I have aching muscles where I didn't know I had muscles and that is just after the baby Bat Cave. How do you do 8 hour trips??? Good food, good people, good fun.

Thanks to all, I had a great time and the salad for lunch and the burgers for dinner were fantastic! I am having to hide my door prize as my roomie seems to think it's his!
Tom Ferrell did a great job guiding at Bat Cave, my friends from work had never been underground before and had an absolute blast! They had never seen roosting bats, never been in absolute darkness and are now planning on joining the local grotto. That's what it's all about. I love to see people so excited.
Thanks again to all of you and Pat, I will see you this weekend. Cindy :D

What a weekend! Thanks to the group from CFC for the 2007 Cavort.
I joined the group at Bat Cave on Saturday and Briars on Sunday and even managed to squeeze in a dive in the Ear. This is a terrific group of people who clearly enjoy educating others about safe caving and conservation! We had way too much food (thanks to everyone who brought food and to Bernice who put it all together) and it was generously offered to anyone who came by to chat (or baksheesh as one diver explained).
The weather cooperated, the bonfire burned brightly and a good time was had by all. Thanks again! :D
