I know this has been addressed many times, but now that I'm the one shopping, I promise to pay closer attention.
I'm thinking of going with the ATX 200's on my backmounted doubles. Can someone that has had experience with these regs give me their opinion? Thank you.

I have 2 ATX 100's and 2 ATX 200's. I think they are great regs. The 200's are said to breath a little better but I see no difference. They all breath great at any depth. Well at least to 300' which is the deepest I have had them. I traded in my Odins a few years ago for them and glad I did. They are very reliable and easy to adjust.

I have been using ATX 200 for only 1.5 years with no complains whatsoever. I used some other regs in this this period, and god knows how much I missed my ATX. Anyway, a good friend of mine have been using them for years, and he swears by them.

I have a pair of atx200's for my backgas as well for about 2 years now and 250 dives or so and they have performed flawlessly....would buy the set again in a heartbeat. Bill

I've tried the ATX series and they breathe very nicely.

However, the bubble interference on all the ATXs drives me NUTS.

The TX50s breathe just as well, and have the wider exhaust "T", which doesn't have that problem. Oh, and there are people who just have to have the "latest" and will sell 'em at a reasonable price too... :)

I thought the SP G250s breathed well. Ok, ok, they do - until I tried the TXs. Now you would have to rip the TXs out of my cold, dead fingers.... love those regs....

However, this is defniitely a "personal pref" thing. My g/f doesn't care for the Apeks and loves the G250s! Go figure.

This is my first post to this forum so a quick 'hello' first.

I am an Instructor based in London England and have been using Apeks regulators for over 10 years. I currently use either my TX100s or my Black Pearls which are basically the same as the ATX200. I have done over 3000 dives on Apeks regs all over the world and they have never let me down. I have tried many other regulators and none come close to Apeks.

I have one each (1 ATX100, 1 ATX200) and have been impressed with their performance. The only drawback I'm aware of is that if you don't do your own service they are a little harder to get properly serviced (ie, by a trained :!: technician). I believe the service manual can be downloaded from their website.

My ATX 200's have worked great and only after 200 + dived did I have to adjust them but the draw back is the parts availability. That's why I'm going to be switching to DR. I do have a source for ATX parts but it's a long way to ship so I would rather give my local dive shop the business and buy DR.

There's a guy on eBAY that has the rebuild kits for the Apeks firsts and seconds. The kits are current and reasonable ($20-25 each)

That beats ordering them from Germany

One nice thing about the Apeks - they seem to need service less often than the SPs that I was diving. All the SP piston firsts started to creep too much for my taste somewhere between 50-100 dives. The Apeks DS4s, so far at least, seem to hold their stability far better. We'll see if I still feel that way in a couple of years....

The Apeks are trivial to work on too, which is nice - all you need is the case spanner wrench and the usual expected reg stuff. The SPs required a couple of special tools (piston bullet and, for the Mk20/25s, a "bushing holding tool" in order to get the "stack" of the bushings and HP O-ring in correctly) in order to "do them right."

Agreeing with others, I have been diving the TX100 and ATX 200's since they came out. I love the regs and have never had a problem. I've used them for Ice Diving in Alaska and Canada (minimum surface temp -20 F), some wreck diving, and several hundred cave dives. They always breathe fine and they are a cinch to work on.
I also own several SP's and Apeks TX 50's. The two regs mounted on back gas are always the Tx 100 and ATX 200.

Cheers and safe diving,
Rumph

Do you know a germany source for the kits offhand??

The source for ATX parts are within the states. If you would like to find out you may PM me.

The ATX Regs are top noche... Like I said, the reason that I'm going to DR is due to easy parts avalability. Plus I personaly know the guys @ DR and I'm certified by DR to repair the regs.
