My 10w 13 degree A UL HID went out on a working dive yesterday. No water got inside but the element blew out. I did not bump the head and it was started before I got into the water. Water is about 64 degrees here near New Orleans. Almost time to get out of my shorts and into a light wetsuit. (1) Any ideas why? When I replace it I would like more of a spot as opposed to a flood. (2) Would a 6 degree take care of that? (3) Where is the least expensive source, or are they all the same. Checked the Welch Allyn site and they are $120.00. AUL is out of business and I will soon need to replace the outer and inner o ring above and below the glass lens. I think the MR 11 by Diverite may be the same size. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks, Mark from Slidell La. diverecoveries@charter.net
(2) Would a 6 degree take care of that?
Yes, the 6 degree bulb would be a huge improvement for that - almost as good as a focused adjustable head when we compared them in clear to slightly foggy water.
I don't know for sure about any of the rest but it seems like they do run about $100.

AUL is out of business
I didn't know that, but sure enough it is true. http://www.aul-inc.com/
Anybody know what happened?

AUL is out of business thanks to the Sartek lawsuit over HID light patents.
It was either fold or fight....Arnold didn't want the hassel or expense. Curt DeRemer bought out the AUL inventory of parts and can be reached at www.dpvrepair.com
The 6 degree MR11 10w HID will give a much tighter spot and will fit the AUL head. The price of $120ea is in the right ballpark since the bulbs can only be purchased in bulk from WA.
We have them in stock at CE and CEE.
