Hey, does anyone have a good suggestion for a 100% o2 DECO regulator? I have heard conflicting experiences on using any old regulator vs a full-out o2 cleaned one. I know the posiedons are great and fully compatible, but a little bit out of my price range. I have also heard that the Dive rite regs are good for 100% o2, so does it really matter what reg you use? Any thoughts would be helpful!

Yeah. You can buy used Mark 20/G-250s off eBay all the time for around $150.

Someone once gave me a like-new R-190, so I put it on a first stage and used it for deco. Once.

A low-end reg breathes so bad (compared to a high performance reg) that I switched back to backgas a few minutes later. I'd rather breathe a good reg for twenty minutes of deco than a bad reg for ten minutes.

But that's just my opinion.

You definitely want something that breathes good, but that does not mean you have to pay top dollar and get a high end reg. I have been using a non-adjustable DR for 100% and it breathes really well. I have not encountered any problems with it over the past few years, and the pricing on them is reasonable. I have also heard good things about the Salvo regs, but I have yet to try one. I would recomend that you O2 clean whatever reg you decide to go with, rather than trusting someone who may tell you that it is okay out of the box; it is not that difficult to clean one and the piece of mind that comes from doing it is priceless.
