I have a Poseidon Thor regulator. I know the same first stage and second stage are still used on two different regulators. I think the second is called the "performance" second stage and is used on a bunch of regulators, but is the first stage the same as the Cyclon? It has a high intermediate pressure.

Thanks

Hello,
Thor, Jetstream (current name), Odin and now the Xstream (different housing) are mechanically the same. Sherwood at one time had an Odin 2nd on a Sherwood 1st, I forget what they called that. The unbalanced Cyclon 1st stage is the the only one that used the high IP (approx. 165 PSI). It had metric threads and gasket seals for hoses, also was round bodied, body inline with yoke/DIN input. All balanced versions run at approximately 150 PSI. Send me a picture and I can identify. Somebody could have mistakenly jacked up the IP because "it's a Poseidon".

What is the model number on the 1st stage?

It's in the shop being serviced, so I can't get that number right now. Maybe later this week.

It looks like this unless I'm missing some small detail. I ripped off the photo:

If I haven't figured this out before I get it out of service I'll post a detailed actual photo.

I don't think it's been cranked up to an abnormal pressure. It has been serviced expressly by people I trust greatly and they have all told me this. And it's a Poseidon, so not many unqualified people will even touch one anyhow (thankfully).

Oh....I forgot to mention. Mine isn't metric if that helps. Originaly purchased around 1991.
I am the second owner, or I might know more. The first owner only used it once, then sold it to me, so I know the age.

You can download the entire Poseidon repair manual from www.frogkick.dk . You ought to be able to identify what you have from the illustrations.

Thanks Sludge

For those of you who have been following this post with baited breath...
It appears that The Thor was called the Oceanair outside the US (and I guess it was metric).
The same first stage was also used on the Cyklon 300, which was only available out side the US and I guess metric. It looks like it's not made any more (not on their website).

It looks like they don't make any of the simple cylinder sticking out of the valve type first stages anymore.

While it is true they aren't made anymore, they are fairly easy to get parts for. They are also easy to service. I still have about 8 Cyklon 1st stages, and they all still work.
