My buddy and I went to Little River in the late afternoon, hoping the crowds would be thinning out. At 4:30, I estimated 1 person in every 10' of water across most of the spring pool to the river.
By dive time, around 5:30, it had cleared out by at least 50%. BUT. I was waiting for my buddy to tie off, and kids were pulling on my fins and waving to me, so I scooted just inside the overhang before we entered the cave.
Man, that is one seriously fun cave! It was an AWESOME last dive to end my mini-vacation.

Ouch!! atleast it was some good P.R. work you did wave to the kids?
Are my match box cars still by the log?

Are my match box cars still by the log?Indeed, yes I did wave back to them. But I didn't want to encourage them harassing divers, so I got away. (though my buddy and I are planning on trying to "kill" each other in open water sometime, just to practice recovery)
I didn't see the match box cars, but I didn't know to look. But with all those kids, I can't imagine they would have survived.
Another buddy and I saw the cutest boy fishing at another nearly deserted spring a day before. It was so sad that his mom was in a knock down drag out verbal fight with her boyfriend. The boy said they did that all the time. :smt089
Then the rednecks came and began diving head first into the 4' deep spring pool. One commented, "Next time we gotta bring rakes to get rid of the rocks." And people think *cave diving* is dangerous!

gotta get there early.
i was waiting at the gate at 6:55 am :D
a guy with his 2 sons showed up a few minutes later.
the ranger was 10 minutes late opening the gate, but won't complain, still got the best parking :D and was diving by 7:30.
place was practicaly empty until around 9:30 or 10:00
after that, each time i surfaced it seemed the swimmers had multiplied like rabbits.
and i agree, its a realy fun system and a perfect end to a diving weekend

i was waiting at the gate at 6:55 am :D My buddy WAS there a lot earlier. She had a class. But she was so busy doing her exercises, that she didn't get to enjoy the fun of the cave. She had a blast, too when we went for fun. But as the second dive of the day and the last of our trip, we figured the place would have cleared out by the time we arrived. Not!
Anyway, it was a blast, and then on the drive back she suggested I make use of the nitrox left in my tank to help rid my body of nitrogen before my flight the next morning. It was hard to keep the regulator in my mouth when I'd have to keep giggling with her all the way back. We phoned up the buddy who introduced the two of us (and couldn't make this trip  ), and I left a Darth Vadar message on her voice mail!

If you do this long enough, you'll be the one driving home with an O2 reg in your mouth...been there, done that, luckily I didn't get the sippee cup(the one they give you at the chamber to keep you hydrated during treatment) to prove it. O2 works wonders.
Good diving with ya at Madison. Check out the map at http://www.floridacaves.com/madisonbluemap.pdf to see what we were TRYING to do... :-D

free sippee cups ya say??? hmmmm, nope, still not worth it lol.
oh yeah, diving Madison was incredible. glad you were along to show us around. i checked out the map. too bad its not as detailed as the maps for Peacock and Orange Grove. but yeah, got the general idea of where we went, just don't know where the jumps are, or which way we went.
but was a great set of "orientation" dives.

Looked a lot like that when we hopped in at 17:45 on Monday....we were quite surprised, however, when we surfaced 40 mins later and only 3 people were left. Nothing like a good thunderstorm to clear the parking lot. I think there's still a gallon of water in the trunk of my car...
